seems like robo9's joke flew by everyone's head, lol. Sakurai is not that much of a troll (i think).

I don't feel like Isaac, Ray MK.II or Barbara were ever considered for playable though. Their omission is weird but maybe they just didn't fit in the 3DS version or something? Golden Sun, Band Brothers and Custom Robo aren't terribly popular either way. Apparently Sakurai stated that there would be version exclusive Assist Trophies, but I can't find this quote anywhere

...though, it IS very strange that both Golden Sun and Band Brothers are exclusive handheld games...
Man, they sure have given Pikachu a lot of personality in this installment haven't they.

However, the one thing I really WANT this rumor to be true for is the mentioned Tower of Smash.

Okay. Okay, okay ooookay.

Impa better be fucking real, I seriously can't take all of these rumors, I don't wanna be set up for heart crushing disappointment.

I know I know. After all the "leaks" with Impa being listed, my heart just can't take much more.

Yeah, it was confirmed in a recent interview, along with Ridley, K. Rool, and Mewtwo. However, MashedPotato Samurai said that they were bumped for Dark Pit and Dr. Mario, saying that fans would "love these characters even more."

uh where did you find this interview?

It was a super secret interview that was only released to the Pope, Bill Clinton, and the ghost of Margaret Thatcher.

Sakurai's not done with PotD, is he? Very Sad
Nope. Here's info on the new mode Japan just got:

"Pic of the day. Now that the game is out in Japan, the Conquest mode will be available in online multiplayer in the Japanese version. This is what the title screen will look like for the overseas version. In this mode, the game aggregates global wins among specific teams during a limited time and determines the victor. If you choose a participating fighter from the With Anyone option, you'll automatically participate in Conquest. We'll be running Conquest in beta for a while. "

"Also, Conquest data where players seem to be losing on purpose will be removed from the calculations. And lastly, there's no point in working on this mode too much on your own, so don't overdo it…"
Does anybody find it odd that Mewtwo, unarguably one of the most popular pokemon of all time, wouldn't at least make an appearance as a pokeball summon if he weren't a playable character.

I mean I know it wasn't the case in Brawl either but it was bizarre then too.
I...actually am having a little trouble understanding this new mode, so bear with me. :/

So, it's basically a little pie chart that has little to no impact on your actual experience. Is it kind of like a monthly survey but instead of polling opinions, they're using the aggregated match results to determine whatever the flavor-of-the-month "challenge" is? Kind of like the daily thing in the Steam Summer sale with teams doing things?

"Who would win in a fight - monkeys, swordsmen, or furry pilots?
Results show -- swordsmen! Surprise!!"

i can see this going well? i guess? i wonder if there's rewards for being on the winning team

Asynchronous team battles. Seems fun to me honestly, it's like making part of a bigger group. It's just numbers but people more than often like these "just numbers" ahaha.

I swear there's something like this in another game but I can't remember

Also thaks recme, that was it Heart
I recall reading some sort of article that details it better than the PotD, but I don't have the power to search for it with my bad phone net at work.

Basically: several factions (PotD makes it look like 3) which have certain characters assigned to them. If you play as them and win online, the associated faction gets points.

As I recall, winning factions get items like customization stuff and trophies, or maybe just coins.
ya know, i hope the whole "linking 3ds to wiiu unlocks new characters" thing is true. i still want to see bandana dee, or at least some other kirby representative join the fight.
So wait, I think that the Wii U version is coming out on the 21 of November after all... At least, a few sources have stores with that date. If that does end up being true, either that "leak" earlier got lucky, or it might actually be legitimate.
