It's probably just to look good, but it's impossible to tell that kind of thing without hands-on experience. :/

I came to the realization yesterday that Hyrule Warriors and this come out very close to each other. I'm gonna have trouble deciding which to play. X:
You're going to have trouble deciding what to play between Super Smash Bros and Hyrule Warriors... :V

Go for Hyrule Warriors!
Beat Hyrule Warriors really fast so you can be done by SSB4.
That might be a problem, considering most Warriors games has a lot of levels to play through as multiple people.

But this isn't really an issue at all. Usually I spend a certain amount of time in my room before bed, where I'd probably be playing Smash. Other game time would probably be spent on Hyrule warriors.

SEPPUKU ;(
Beat me to the punch.
first deconfirmation i'm rather left empty about ... but at the same time i'm just happy he's in the game. and who knows, we might just be looking at the new little mac.

fun fact; both characters i wanted ended up as assist trophies as far of now. both starfy and takamaru.
i'm not as big a fan of takamaru as other people so it doesn't really affect me much but i understand the disappointment

i think it's cool that he has at least gameplay rep. he could've been purely a trophy

here's hoping we get a bunch more obscure nes-era characters like sukapon or mike jones as assist trophies at minimum
well tis a shame for Takamaru least he's an assist trophy maybe you will be playable in SSB5.
Hopefully Lip also shows up in some form.
The only problem is some of my friends like to turn Assist Trophies off.

I'm like: "But we get to see a bunch more Nintendo All Stars!"
They're like: "We don't care"
Then I'm like: Sad

Suggest a "Winner Sets Rules" style event?

I do that when I play games with friends and it generally works out pretty well because we all get to experience the game how we like, and in some instances I get to experience the games in ways I normally don't (such as the coin battle mode in Smash games).

you know that's exactly why i'm pretty happy with the for fun mode

sometimes i just like to play carefree '''for fun'' and enjoy all the content the game(s) have to offer

i don't always have to be on final destination
Guys i found these

The funny thing about this update is that Sakurai prepares these images weeks in advance. HOW DID HE KNOW WE'D BE TALKING ABOUT THIS JUST NOW!?

(Just kidding he probably just planned it to coincide with the reveal of the virtual console release)

Speaking of having assist trophies off, you know what feature I would really appreciate in this iteration of Smash Bros?

Individual item rates.

I prefer having items on. And I even like the occasional appearance of "game changing" items like the Smash Ball, Assist Trophies, Pokeballs, or the Dragoon. But even I have to admit that these items can show up way too often sometimes. Especially the Smash Ball, whose rarity always seemed to be set way too high for me; I shouldn't be seeing four of the damn things in a three minute match.

So my problem lies in the fact that we only have a universal item rate which determines how often items appear in general, meaning if I don't want these items to show up constantly I have to either turn down the item rate on EVERYTHING or turn that individual item off altogether, which I don't really want to do.

So what I want is basically instead of just an "on/off" switch for each item, instead give each one an appearance rate that you can modify. Then I could just set items like the Smash Ball or Hammer to "Very Low" and set everything else to "Medium".

Each item could still keep it's own permanent hidden rarity, but the player-set appearance rate would act as a sort of multiplier. (Very Low: x.25, Low: x.5, Medium: x1, High x1.5, Very High x2).

Anyways I know there's pretty much no way they thought to do it that way, but it's something I've been wanting to happen since Melee; but even more intensely since Brawl, what with how many game changing items they added.
