Only because there's no Donkey Kong on it Cool
Oh yeah, there isn't is there? No Fox either. It looks like they are mostly showcasing the new characters along with a few must-have characters so you can even identify it as Smash Bros.

Anyhways ...

The most interesting thing I find about today's update is that you can apparently level-up your equipable powers. Also judging by the size of that scrollbar there appears to be a LOT of powers available that we haven't even seen yet. This will definitely keep me playing for a long time.

Some things I don't see here that this could really use though: A timer for when you are playing against other human opponents. Last thing you want is a friend that is going to take forever to decide their equips before every match. Secondly, a way to save your favorite set-ups. Third, something in the description field of each power that tells us its individual weight; considering that this screen shows this player maxed out at 25 weight and is only equipped with 13 items, I am assuming each item doesn't simply weigh 1 unit.

Also, what is that orange bar? I though it was the weight at first but it says weight 25/25 on the right and the orange bar clearly is not full.
I think that the orange bar actually is weight related. If I had to guess why the orange bar didn't appear full, it's probably because the cursor is on the first item, and the bright orange part of the bar is showing that item's space taken in your overall weight.

The levels do have me intrigued, though. If I remember correctly, Kid Icarus Uprising had something similar, but you found higher level stuff rather than it gaining experience and leveling up.

If you add up all the numbers of the orange bar to the right of each power-up, it equals 25, so I'm fairly positive those are the weight values.

And I think Tom is on to something about that other orange bar.
The light orange part shows the difference between having the Power Bomb equipped or not. (Power Bomb is highlighted) The light part is most likely glowing.
I kind of wish this last month would have PotD on weekends...
Here's a guy who's doing some Doc Louis speeches for Smash 4.

Some of these are really funny. I really like the Captain Falcon one.

"Pic of the day. Nightmare Wizard appears as an Assist Trophy! He will engulf the stage in darkness, and fighters will need to brawl blindly for a while. Look out for the effect before it goes dark, and play it to your advantage. Blinding and reversal effects even make the computer players mess up."

Off to another good start this week. I love the Nightmare Wizard. Confirmation that status alterations like blinding are meant to effect the computer too is a plus as well.

jesus fucking christ, i never expected him to appear. i expected marx for like a boss hazard or assist but nightmare, wow.

he's one of the most gorgeous things i've seen in this game yet.

EDIT; really hope his theme is a song in the game now
This picture is pretty damn awesome, but I can't say I'm looking forward to playing blind. That sounds like a pretty annoying effect to deal with.
It was an effect in the last two games, so no big deal. At least it confuses the AI as well this time.
As long as the sounds are panned relative to your characters, you don't really need to see. You'd be able to hear how close something is to the left or right of your character (except, maybe on the console version). The only thing you can't tell is if they're in the air or not, but the sound alone should help you dodge better. That is, if they implement that. Of course, in 4-way matches, there's always so much shit going on at once, you can never tell what's happening.

I'm guessing this is Nightmare's way of reminding DeDeDe of all the money he still owes him for those monsters.

This would make my 13 year old self VERY happy given how much I hyped up about it back when Pixeltendo was around.

I'm surprised that it wasn't Marx or Kracko however.
Well, I figure there's no reason there can't be MORE Kirby assist trophies. Two Metroid villains were added to the roster after all. I picture Kracko working well as a stage boss, and Marx as an assist trophy, but they are easily interchangeable in those roles.

I hope at least one of them happens... And I almost wish Heavy Lobster would appear as a boss on the Halberd.
