Sabin can suplex Ridley. Should be no problem after suplexing the Phantom Train.
I'm no DK baby by any means, but I think it's very odd the series only has two reps. I wouldn't even mind if Dixie got in and was a semi-clone at this point. It just needs something
It was pretty bad timing on Sakurai's part honestly. Donkey Kong sort of went though a reboot during the Wii generations with DKC Returns, that only featured the leading two Kongs. By the time the roster was finalized, Tropical Freeze itself hadn't been released or announced. And since Tropical Freeze was developed by Retro Studios, a company in America that's pretty secretive of its projects, Sakurai likely had no idea about Dixie or Cranky being playable characters.

The roster of Smash 4 focused heavily on pulling characters from newer games released on Wii, DS, and 3DS. So older characters like K. Rool really didn't have any chance on joining the roster. And since Returns only featured DK and Diddy, the roster sort of stayed that way.

Kind of sucks that a new Donkey Kong character never made it to Smash Bros. I'm a huge DK fan, even enjoying DK64 despite it being sort of lame. I think Dixie Kong and Cranky Kong could easily be crafted into new fighters. The franchise currently has no Assist Trophies either, despite being a character-dominated franchise. No exclusive items from the Country part of the franchise, except the banana peel. At least the franchise has four stages across both the 3DS and WiiU game...
Because that totally explains Duck Hunt and Bowser Jr.

And besides, the Ballot should have been a remedy to the DK problem. But its quite obvious what happened. I think the K. Rool Mii costume was him trying to address the overwhelming votes for K. Rool without actually making him a character.
you mean the New Super Mario Bros. Wii representative and the reoccurring retro rep that has been in /every/ game since Melee?

Bayonetta won the ballot dude, c'mon just accept it.

To be fair, Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings were shown a shit ton on Wii, DS, and 3ds mario games, otherwise they wouldn't be in a koopa clown car.

Also Duck Hunt is also a big NES rep just as much as ROB is, not only that but Duck Hunt was also re-released on the Wii U virtual console by the time he was confirmed. So that would make sense to why he got in too.

Far as the ballot goes, it was never meant to be a "Remedy" to anything. Yeah sure, there were alot of votes for K. Rool but lets be honest, probably the only people that would have wanted him that badly are the die hard Donkey Kong Country fans. It would have been nicer to see him as a character instead of fucking Corrin, for sure. But honestly I'd rather cut my losses on that. Besides, there's always the eventual mod scene that will come about.
The fact that Bayonetta won over K. Rool, Shantae and Shovel Knight just proves that the vocal minority is, in fact, the minority.
Despite Starfox Zero being on the horizon, the Starfox series probably isn't popular enough for Wolf to make his return, as much as I want to believe otherwise. As part of the vocal minority, I'm just incredibly biased like that.
Literally my only problem with the Smash 5 roster is the cut veterans. All of the newcomers are good new content. Even Corrin will probably grow on me eventually, and it helps that he has a unique moveset as opposed to being Marth #4 (but really now Lucina and Roy feel different enough I don't actually dig this meme).

And after that my only issue is with some of the movesets... Okay, actually my only real beef is with Pit and Dark Pit (no I have some issues with Olimar, but not like this...). Pit should have kept some kind of rebalanced iteration of his Brawl moveset, and Dark Pit should have just been given the new stuff. It would make Dark Pit feel more worthwhile as a character rather than an alt.

Other than the four or five veterans we don't have, there isn't any reason to be upset about the roster.

Edit: Although I've been secretly hoping for a beastly Metal Mario since he was a terrifying boss in Smash 64 and he'd pretty much just be a clone with stupid broken stats though Sakurai he'd take like a day to make come on. /notreallydisappointaboutthis

Wolf could have definitely made his return. Despite not having a game recently, Star Fox is the kind of franchise that the general public knows about/or played when they were young. Especially with the announcement of StarFox Zero, I think he would've been just as good of a promotional character as Corrin is. (but without the killer moveset)

Plus, characters from past Smash Bros installments are always marketable. Many kids recognize Lucas and Roy without their games ever being released worldwide, and bought them because they "liked that character from Brawl!!!". Wolf has the Smash Bros marketability, an upcoming game, and a series with worldwide releases in the past.
With Fire Emblem getting a total of 6 characters in this one game, which is hardly all that popular outside of Japan considering we only got a couple of the games in the entire series, I don't believe popularity has anything to do with it at this point. Just call it Sakurai's wish list, and be done with it, brothas~

Why don't we be angry about something else instead, like how the game is only like, a year old, still insanely popular, and is basically over now in terms of DLC, lol. I could see if the next game was just announced when they'd cut DLC, but...they're literally missing a cash cow by not doing more with this game, while they work on the new one behind the scenes.
Still, Fire Emblem is popular in Japan and each fighter represents a game of their own.

And while it bums the shit out of me that DLC is done after february, aside from the fact that there's more to their carreer than Cmash Bros., DLC in total is going to cost a fortune the more gets released.

The hopelessly hopeful in me still hopes Wolf gets sneaked in at the last moment. The realist in me is armed with a bat, ready to beat the shit out of the hopeful in me.
I'm happy with Bayo winning just by the fact that she always came across like an edgier Shantae to me for some reason.
I'm not going to lie, I'm still incredibly disappointed in the DLC characters, even a week later.

But there's nothing keeping me from playing the characters I liked before, and the Bowser buffs were pretty Hoss.
It's pretty easy to get disappointed when you have half of gaming history to pick characters from and you can only have short of sixty, but the important thing is to take disappointment with a look on the bright side.

I for one am satisfied enough with what we've got, as I really like Fire Emblem and I like Bayonetta. Now I can just sit around playing smash and anticipating what might happen years from now when either Smash gets another director, or Sakurai comes out of retirement again. I almost wish it would happen during a generation where they could reuse most of the same engine on perhaps the NX, and expand the roster from what we have now and go into crazy territory with roster size.
You mean like Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi 3? Didn't that have like, over 100 playable characters?

Of course, we must also realize...the more characters there are, the harder it becomes to balance anything. League of Legends is probably a testament to that. I always hear about how they're adding new characters, called Champions, there, and how broken everything gets, so they need to rebalance everything xD.
