Boy I sure would like to see this video.
Fuck, dudes and dudettes I'm way too fucking excited right now. This game CAN NOT come soon enough.
ugh

more fire emblem

more swords

I want smash bros, not soul caliber

I know the other option was Shulk, who also has a sword as his main gimmick

but come on, 8 characters (6 if you dont count Mii fighter and MetaKnight if he doesnt come back, as if) with swords

two in a single update

ugh

EDIT: 9 characters, I forgot Pit. So many I lost track.

Fucking thank you. He's been in 3 SSB games beforehand. He ain't going anywhere (and neither will, say, Ness for that matter; especially not after the huge deal Nintendo made out of bringing Earthbound to the western WiiU Virtual Console).

Yeah, this latest reveal seems pretty awesome, especially since the new FE characters seem more diverse gameplay wise (at least definitely for Robin). And having 2 female FE newcomers (if you wanna count the option for Robin) is a neat bonus so people can now shut up about that kthxbai.

EDIT: Also, why exactly do so many people hate the Gematsu leak in particular? It's not that I necessarily disagree with the sentiment; I myself disliked it for how scrubs kept treating it as gospel truth.

That's pretty much the best news out of this.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I have you attention, please.

I feel that it should be brought to your attention, that MY CLIENTS, Brock Lesnar ROBIN AND LUCINA have broken the Gematsu's streak. My clients, Robin and Lucina, have broken the Gematsu's streak. My clients, Robin and Lucina, have broken the Gematsu's streak.

I still need to play the new Fire Emblem game by the way...

Robin is so much more than just a sword fighter, and it's obvious in their screenshots and the game play shown.
There is still plenty of characters who fist fight or use completely different weapons from swords.
Kind of disappointed in the disappointment I'm seeing Sad
Fire Emblem is a series that's finally starting to catch on big it seems(and one of Nintendo's best franchises at that), and I think it should show with this new Smash Bros.

Edit: SkeleSam wanted me to post on his behalf in response to everybody not happy about the update
"post on my behalf and tell them they're all wrong and dumb"

Okedoke, have a nice day folks.

Yeah, Shulk's chances are getting pretty low, but...

...let's not count out the possibility of a Rhythm Heaven fighter just yet.
I guess it really just is personal bias; I really dislike playing against sword characters.
I have ever since the very first Smash Bros, and it gets old fast when every match you
play devolves in to a game of "avoid the pointy bit"

Nine sword-based characters only further decreases chances of matches that arent just sword swinging smash and grabs.

Look im not against Fire Emblem, even though I don't really care about the series.
Robin's style looks like Zelda with a sword, smash didnt need that.

I know just as a casual player of the Fire Emblem series that there are all sorts of characters and weapon types that could have been represented here,
but they chose two more sword users, one with ranged spells as well.

Lets say for arguments sake that we really did need two more Fire Emblem characters; why not select actually unique weapontypes or playstyles not
already represented in SmashBros by other franchises? Where is a Heavy Axe guy, or dude with a spear, or quick lady with knives? I'm just saying that I'm
sure there are other recognizable FE characters with more diverse movesets that could have been included instead of two sword users from the "Flavor of the month" club.
So is Lucina an alt or a clone? I'm not really clear on that.

In other news, I am sooo glad Robin's in. We NEEDED a non-sword character so bad and Robin is just perfect.
#TeamNotChrom
Lucina's her own gawt dang character, and she doesn't even look like she plays like Marth.
Robin him/herself is what Fire Emblem Awakening is though. He/She represents the game the character comes from perfectly, being a jack of all trades and typically a Create a Character that is actually integral to the plot of the game. Lucina is also very important to the game's plot and introduces multiple game mechanics once she is recruited. I get the logic behind wanting ones that play differently from using swords in general, but ones that are modern that have done that and distinguished themselves above others are few and far inbetween. The only one I could think of that is still relevant would be Anna.

(Also, I really enjoy the whole total uses on spells thing, very true to the source material.)
