I'm a bit mixed about getting these figures to be honest. Collecting Nintendo merchandise is cool, but I used to be a collecting fiend when I was a kid. That lead to a lot of money spent and a bunch of plastic junk collecting dust everywhere.
I'm most likely going to just hope I get some as gifts (seems likely) at some point... Maybe I'll pick up, like what was posted upthread, a Dr. Mario one if they make him. Perhaps Duck Hunt as well. I don't really have a strong desire for the other characters... mostly because I already have some kind of merchandise pertaining to most of them.

More leaks on the way.
Pic of the day has taken a weird turn.

Is it wrong that the thing that made me laugh the most was Pichu?

Like, the figure is there encased in the dome and any area that would be filler would have plastic in it instead. It might be a little optimistic, but it'd certainly keep them in the poses w/o odd supports and it'd fit with something currently present within the game.

Get ready as PDP announces plastic bubbles for figurine characters for nerds to preserve their trophies available exclusively at Gamestop just before Christmas Nerd

I think realistically I'd buy one at launch, one down the line (like when they release the unlockables as amiibo) and maybe a spare one at some point to keep in its box for eventual resale.

The question now is which one. :/
I have a feeling that The Smash Scene is gonna play around with these and find out that like, Link and Rosalina are the top choices given custom part shenanigans

Man I can't wait for That amiibo Meta

I am so stoked for the Kirby stage just for the music selections alone Big Grin
So, uh... Smash U is getting reverse delayed in Europe and Australia.
Good. They need to make up for the awful thing they did to Australia's release date with Brawl.
I'm seriously considering an Amiibo. But I want Ness... And you and me and everyone we know will confirm: The only game that will work with Ness will be Smash Bros... Sad

I feel like the logical move would be Link or Mario because of this, but fuck me is that boring...
Heads up to those of you who are on the fence about Amiibo. Toys R Us is offering a deal; you get a free one if you buy a copy of Smash Bros. Wii U online or in-store.

Hey, I'm going with Link because I love Hyrule Warriors and it's got confirmed compatibility with that game. ):
Also, I feel like if there's gonna be any vicious amiibo, it's most likely that it'll be Link, between his range and his custom moves, he seems like he'd be capable of turning into Ike.

I was actually considering Fox as well as he'd be the most fun to customize and play against.

I'm waiting for Duck Hunt, actually - but being he's one of the last hidden characters you unlock, I think it'll also be some time until they release him. :/ In the meantime, I'm just settling for Link. Or Marth. Or Villager. Or Fox. Hell I still can't decide.

Honestly I don't know if you guys are 100% familiar with NFC technology, but the reader is in the base of the figurine. This means that you could pretty much "break" the figurine off the stand and replace it with another one.
I'm considering looking into getting a 3D printed Wolf figurine, replace the Fox figure and customizing Fox's moveset to Wolf's, and then take that to tourneys etc.

Or at least painting the existing Fox figurine into his Wolf alt color.

EDIT: BAH the pricing for 3D printing is stupid, guess I'll just paint the figure
I have a feeling though, given the internet's "maker revolution", that someone with a 3D printer will make a custom amiibo service and provide decent prices (i.e. $30 a figure) so I suppose
eh I could wait

Hype intensifies.

jesus, fucking, christ.
