He mentioned that he can only add "several" more characters or something, at least one of them being from the Smash Ballot.
you know, fighting games in general benefits a lot from DLC, because back in the day even the slight gameplay updates would warrant an entirely new game. See the many iterations of Street Fighter II

Being able to have a single game updated constantly is great and will keep this game alive for a longer time
I'm at least expecting another highly-requested Brawl veteran (like Wolf) and a souped-up version of a Melee veteran nearly nobody misses (like Pichu or Young Link).

Aside from Snake and Ice Climbers, those are the only veterans not yet in SSB4.
Yeah, I'm kinda expecting a DLC wave similar to wave 2, where there's a Melee vet, Brawl vet and a newcomer.
If Project M wasn't Melee enough, you've now got this:

d-did they

no they didn't. no way

they actually devamped all the characters to fit the Melee aesthetic. WHAT
That's really cool but it looks painfully unprofessional. Guess it doesn't matter though.
Yeah, some of the characters look hokey. For many of them it's almost like the guy just eyeballed the colors of the Melee textures and hastily photoshopped the Brawl textures to somewhat match Melee colors. Though I think he did a great job on Captain Falcon, especially since he got rid of his kneepads and scarf.

I'd honestly just use Melee models where possible.
To me, the Toon Link/Young Link hybrid looks very unsettling. Is it that much trouble to make a completely different model for Toon Link to get us the Young Link we all know and love?

I believe that someone ported the Melee Young Link model over Tink.

Someone WAS working on porting the Hyrule Warriors Young Link model, but any news on that halted about a couple months back.
I really don't like some of Melee's models. Like. If you showed me Melee Bowser alongside Smash 4 Bowser and asked me to pick, I'd call you crazy.

this. i always thought there was something off with melee's design. but it alos has it own kind of charm in a way.
i think meta knight's lighter palate looks rather pleasing to the eyes. too bad he was never added, i would have loved to see his classic design before they went for the modern more knight like design he has of today in most games ( mostly smash )

it... kinda is a lot of trouble. remember manchu back in the early brawl modding days? where pikachus model replaced ganondorfs model? well, that is what would happen if replace toon links model with young link. since toon links bone structure is vastly different compared to young link, the switch will become very messy. to fix that, however, you must change how the bones are structured, make animations, etc.

i like the concept of this project. the "final product" does not look very... professional? i mean, i get that fans made this, but when youve seen better fan work such as project m, mother 4, and am2r, you wonder if more effort can be put into this...
Nah, it'd be fine. Nrawl hacking has come a very long way, you can actually just put Toon Link's bone structure into a Young Link model, and as long as you rig it up well it'll be fine. Model swapping is a pretty big thing
