In other words, Sakurai pretty much said "You guys don't know what the fuck you're talking about and will bitch no matter what I do. Get off my dick about the clones."

Mario already has everything it needs, and I thought Sakurai realized that in Brawl when there were no new Mario characters and he focused more on other franchises that needed characters. So I was expecting the same. When I first saw the trailer for Rosalina I was pretty shocked.

but since Brawl, we've seen two pretty important Mario characters shine up from the cracks. Rosalina was ever important in the Galaxy games, and Bowser Jr.'s been a reoccuring villain dating back since Sunshine. And since these two characters had potential for very unique movesets, there's not really anything to be surprised about.

I've already explained why Donkey Kong was left out, there's literally no new characters they could draw from Returns as playable. It's just DK and Diddy.  But since Brawl, we had two galaxy games and a boatload of New Super Mario Bros. games that featured both Rosalina and Bowser Jr.

Clones like Dark Pit and Dr. Mario were clearly going to be costumes ala Alph. I'm glad they expanded on them, though. And I honestly wish Alph got the same treatment as these clones tbh. I think Pikmin, after 3 games, definitely deserves the second rep. But whateve's, roster's fine as is.
Though, to be fair, Dark Pit and Lucina just feel like a huge step back from how clones were handled in Brawl, where they really only shared their special moves with their base, and only to a degree.

Heck, even in Melee the clones had a particular attribute that would just pop up right away immediately: Ganondorf being a tank compared to the speedy bruiser Captain Falcon, Young Link being smaller, faster, weaker and lighter than Link, Roy dealing more damage on the hilt of the sword instead of the tip like Marth, Pichu damaging itself with every electric attack, Falco being generally stronger and focusing on killing blows; I mean, for god's sake, Dr. Mario might have been the least unique of the Melee clones, but even he is more different from Mario than Pitoo is to Pit and Lucy is to Marth (then again, that may be exclusively due to him having the Tornado).

I mean, make Lucina near Sonic-fast, or Dark Pit slow but brutal, or with a marginably better recovery. Just actually make the most out of the fact that they have their own slot.
Aside from his arrows, I literally can't feel a difference between Pit and Dark Pit. I'm not objecting to his position as a clone character, but I wish they would have differentiated him a bit more.
Dark pit hits a little harder with his attacks and has the electroshock side B that launches people differently.
I don't see much point in being upset about newcomers that didn't make it... Like, veterans that get cut are one thing, because that's content removed between games (the same for game modes and stages, really. Options like Item Frequency settings...), but content that was never there to begin with and was maybe never planned? I don't really see the point being upset about that.

It's needless hype whenever people get upset about their characters not getting in.

People have too many high expectations for Super Smash Bros and Sakurai because they want everything crammed into it. Shit even Kojima wanted Snake to be back into Smash Bros but that wasn't really a big possibility that was considered when the roster was being made. Sakurai wants to have some creative control rather than have everyone getting on his ass about who should be playable in the game. And god knows if he took in every fan's suggestion the same way someone like Pendleton Ward tried to add in a ton of ideas that the fans made in their fan-art for Adventure Time, it'd be a cesspool of shitty fan ideas being slapped into something that could be good and made into something shitty.

Honestly, as much as I'd love to see Ridley shrunk down to the size of Bowser, or having characters like Takamaru, Saki, Sukapon, and dare I say anime characters, or Mewtwo, Roy, Pichu, Lucas, Ice Climbers, and Wolf being brought back to Smash Bros, I would much rather trust Sakurai to make the game the way he's planning it out than having fans come up with a ton of roster suggestions.

The thing that I like about Super Smash Bros was that it always aimed for quality, and it never fails to deliver that regardless. The fact that the roster is usually spoiled everytime a new smash is made is a good thing in my honest opinion because I'd rather know what characters are going to be in the game than have that anxiety of "holy shit I want _____ to be playable". Everything else however I'd rather be left up for a surprise.

Dat Bass.
The text for today's update is interesting because it implies that Sakurai doesn't actually oversee the design of the trophies.
Sort of makes sense.

Oh that's easy. It's Poker Night With The Hand Brothers and it's exclusive to Smash Bros for Wii U :0)
I already know the answer to that. It's Master Spoiler:Orders and Crazy Spoiler:Orders, which are part of the Spoiler:Special Orders... whatever that means. Maybe it's something to do with Spoiler:Smash World?
Master Drawing of a Cock and Crazy Drawing of a Cock.
New mode, eh?

Tower of Smash/Smash World, perhaps?
