Uh, they look different, it looks like Lucina's does two slashes, the second has a small pause, then the spin, Marth does one slash, and the second goes into his spin.
... They look almost completely identical to me.

Nah man, the second hit you're seeing is part of the spin. If there were two characters in the same place during that Marth animation, it would hit as well
So if Lucina is a semi clone/full clone...

... then if Roy, as painfully unlikely as he is in this situation, were to become playable, he's guaranteed to become an original character.

Ah but alas, I can only dream.
I think 5 playable Fire Emblem characters would be taking the piss in a BIG way... That would put it on the same scale as the Mario series, and above everything else.

Solid gold Falcon confirmed.

Also what's the deal with Chrom? Is he playable, an assist, part of Robin's Final Smash?

Anyway, I'm really excited, I really wanted Robin in, and the varieties of Tomes seems very, very interesting.

Edit: Upon rewatching, it seems like he's probably part of Robin's FS. Robin calls out "Chrom!" right before the attack and appears to be in his FS glow.
I don't know who any of these characters are so I don't have much to comment on.

Aside from the fact that I can barely tell Lucinda and Marth apart.
I personally don't care one way or the other whether Lucina is a clone or an alt of Marth. It fits her character's fighting style entirely (In Awakening she was claiming TO be Marth), and if she IS a clone there are likely subtle nuances to differentiate her, like with Toon Link vs Link Classic Flavor.

Part of me is disappointed that Chrom isn't playable (His promoted Lord class is really awesome in Awakening, actually utilizing the Fire Emblem itself in its design), but at the same time Chrom suffered from the same sort of "Another Blue-haired Sword User"isms that Ike and now Lucina suffer from anyway. All in all, I'm more than happy with just Robin, and having Chrom as part of Robin's final smash really accentuates the partnering system of Awakening, which was a big part. Plus Robin is able to pull from various types of Tome magic all in one character.
Even though I never played FE:A and am completely unfamiliar with 99% of the characters, I think they should've used a different female character than Lucina. Two blue-haired sword-wielding characters was enough, we didn't need a third one. Plus, Lucina looks like she plays exactly the same as Marth.

Nintendo contacted IGN to confirmed them that he won't be playable to clear up any confusion.

Which, in turn, cements the fact Ridley is still likely for me, since they have yet to state it otherwise to clarify any doubts.

i agree 5 in one game would be too much but to be fair over the course of the ssb series we've had 6 mario characters, 6 zelda and 10 pokemon.

at least fire emblem is an ongoing series that's still making nintendo money, unlike metroid, f-zero and earthbound.

i could do with or without ridley, it makes 0 difference to me. i just dont find the metroid series to be all that relevant anymore.
lucina doesn't even look like a clone to me after watching both trailers, and I guess even if she is it makes sense with feas plot and all

#LucinaDefenseSquad
What i want to know is about that Rayman Trophy is Sakurai just throwing us off so later he could show Rayman as a playable character?
I'd appreciate at least letting him be an assist trophy.
Guess Gematsu's leak is down the drain, though I still stand by my previous post that it was very unlikely that he was wrong, you do not predict Wii Fit Trainer by guessing.

I'm hyped for Lucina and Robin though~ And I doubt Lucina's going to be a complete clone, we don't have those since melee, she's gonna have a bunch of different propreties to her attacks, you can bet on it
