The problem with Ridley as a character is that a lot of his personality and lore are unwritten in the games. I mean, the guy is the leader of the space pirates, the guy must be doing something right. The same could be said about any of the hunters due to their lack of dialogue, barring MP3 where the hunters now had voices and personalities. The trouble with them is that they were sort of one-time-only, I think they have a bigger problem than Ridley does in the "what have they ever done in the series" arguement.

I'd still be happy to see ANY of them though.

I don't know anything about Wonderful 101, really, but it'd be cool to have Smash Bros. introduce me to a new franchise again.
A friend and I were discussing how cool it would be to have fun skins for certain characters that referenced other Nintendo characters. One we thought up was, assuming Little Mac ever became a character, a skin of him as a Hitmonchan. However, I pictured it as him in a costume, and my friend pictured it as actually making him a Hitmonchan.

Essentially this. Ridley - in the games, and in my post I even said in the games - doesn't say anything. Isn't seen doing anything. Doesn't even seem all that intelligent. They don't even talk about his apparently fantastic leadership skills in the Pirate logs, just something like, "oh, I think he'll like a job where he eats people" offhandedly at one point. That's the only thing I can remember where they talk about Ridley being a personality. Otherwise, he just seems like a monster space dragon. Kind of annoying, really, if he's supposed to be Samus' greatest nemesis (though I'll admit I wish he'd just stay dead - he's died like six times by now this is getting ridiculous). Compared to Rundas who gets lines, a couple lore dedicated to who he is, and interacts with Samus a couple times that gets you liking him. Also voiced by Christopher Sabat which gets instant points.
Then why on God's green Earth is Mario in the game?

On the subject of deaths, Bowser died so many times, his living and dead forms coexist as two separate entities.
i remember the first metroid game where we got some background story about the characters

yeah, no-one liked it

i think ridley's fine how he is. sure he's the leader of the space pirates sure okay and it appears to be that he's highly intelligent oh and he also killed samus her parents. explains why they hate each other. oh my god who cares

i just want to play as ridley because i think he's awesome, even design wise. you don't like him? that's fine, don't select him. but you can't ignore the fact that he's the second most important character of the metroid franchise. followed by things like metroids, chozos kraid adam and mother brain.

mother brain for smash
I would not be against Mother Brain using some kind of mech, honestly.

if that is the case i would love to see porkey using one of his mechs
On the argument of "Ridley doesn't do anything in the games", he pretty much is the whole reason Super Mertroid (arguably the best game in the series) happens. I definitely think that qualifies as "does something".

Also I wouldn't mind a "mother brain mech" character.
Each passing moment makes me appreciate the Alfonzo cameo a little more.
I always thought that Mother Brain, or rather Mother Brain's chamber, would make a good stage, actually.

Y'know, something with MB in the background occasionally doing something to interrupt the battle.
And then, regardless of whether ridley got in or not, have Mother Brain as a boss. And since the people at HAL seemed rather unimaginative with their bosses in the last game, Mother Brain can just be a Halberd's Core clone, with fewer bouncing lasers.
God I want bosses back. With more faces from the actual game franchises and not a bunch of made up ones. At least one from each of the major franchises would be preferable.

Unfortunately since the Adventure Mode looks like it's just going to function like Melee's this time we probably aren't going to get any outside of Master Hand. Goddammit Sakurai why do you have to be so spiteful.

Sakurai said the Adventure mode wouldn't be like SSE if I remember correctly. That doesn't mean that there won't be bosses, or that it will be like the one from Melee. Honestly, I have a feeling that he will try to get it to fall somewhere between Melee's adventure mode, and SSE.
I'm expecting the amount of levels and their length to be comparable to SSE, but without any kind of story to bring it together.
