You really think Ganondorf's will remain the same? Even though Twilight Princess isn't really relevant any more?

Personally I'd love to see him turn into the more classical Ganon and wreck some shit.

(... well actually if I were being completely honest, I'd love for Ganon to be his own separate character, but I doubt many others are interested ...)

Personally I'm expecting them to do something lame like have him transform into Demise in order to have him play to the current relevance of Skyward Sword.
I'm not saying that I WANT it, I'm saying definitely be PREPARED for it. All the designs for the Zelda characters seem to take most of their content from their Brawl counterparts, including Final Smashes. I'd personally love for Ganondorf to be the exception and get even more of an overhaul, but given the circumstances, I just think we should be prepared to see the same again.

From a standpoint of viability, Ganondorf's FS from Brawl was actually really effective. It got enemies stuck in the ground and then shot across the whole screen. Pretty much it was one of the ONLY moves that was good he had, given his horrible speed in Brawl.
Twilight Princess being several games behind us didn't change Link's Gale Boomerang move at all, or the character designs for Link or Zelda, no reason to expect anything different for Ganondorf.

And I am VERY interested in Blue Pig Ganon being a new character.
If Ganondorf gets revamped, he definitely needs the trident.
I honestly thought Link had been changed to look more like the Skyward Sword model. I had to double check after you pointed it out; I guess you guys have a good point.
Well, his hair is blonder, I think, but it doesn't have the same face style and other small things. It is sort of just a mixture of various Links, not one specific one. It's for that reason I hope that Ganondorf has some sort of middle ground as well.
It's TP Link with less grim coloring, is all. But it's definitely TP Link.

I don't know why people keep saying this. Ganondorf has only ever used a sword.

Yeah but he has used a Trident in another incredibly iconic form of his, which counts for a frig-ton. Sure, Fox doesn't have a reflector in any of his on-foot appearances, but he does fly a ship that spins ("barrel rolls") to deflect shots. Sheik never wields Light Arrows AS Sheik, but hey final smashes. I don't see why Ganondorf (especially if he's revamped and made less like his TP self) can't at least have the trident as part of his moveset, reimagined to fit the different build. I guess people just want to see the Ganon side of him represented in a way that isn't just "really large pig".

Though you do have a point, both WW and TP Ganondorfs (and I... guess you could mention SS too, if you count that as a part of Ganondorf) use swords, and OoT's Ganon uses swords as well. As a single entity Ganon/Ganondorf has kind of used Tridents and Swords about equally, when counted by appearance.

... what they really ought to do is take Ganondorf's moveset, give it to Black Shadow, then make a whole thing taking into account Ganondorf's magic, weapon skills and massive strength, not just... heavy Cap.
Yeah everyone agrees to give Ganondorf's moves to Black Shadow. It would make the most sense.
Ganondorf's first appearance in Smash, that being Melee, was based on his character in OoT, which did not use swords. That is the reason he does not use a sword in Smash Bros. and was given a moveset that emphasizes "power" and "magic" instead.

People are always pushing to give Smash Ganondorf a sword, but I honestly don't see what it would bring to the table. If Ike hadn't been introduced to the franchise then yeah, sure, Ganondorf could be the heavy swordsman character, but with Ike present it doesn't feel like Ganny would be all that unique with a sword in hand. At least being a warlock gives him a lot more potential for uniqueness. I'd be much more in favor of keeping his current theme and just revamping his entire moveset to be less of a copy of Falcon.
Ganondorf should just get a halberd. A magical halberd. yeah.
Maybe he could do something like Shao Khan, where he magically forms a trident and just throws it.
New pic of the day confirms Egg-Robo as an assist trophy.

That's just his regular trophy. Egg-Robo appears as an enemy in Smash Run.
Characters like Hammer Bro. did become both enemies (SSE/SR) and ATs, so who knows. However, seeing as Shadow is an AT already, I'm not expecting it.

Then again, we had Ocarina's Phantom Ganon.

It may not count, but having him fighting with that sick as balls trident would be awesome.
