Yeah, you're right. I just double-checked. Going to the old Dojo site made me realize just how much better this game looks than Brawl, too.
I am LOVING Zelda in this game, especially with that Phantom as (hopefully) one of her attacks. If they could include Skyward Sword Zelda as an alt costume, I would main Zelda for sure.

They wouldn't go through all the trouble of splitting Link into normal and "Toon" just to give Zelda elements of both.
I don't know, maybe whatever made them decide not to do toon Zelda in Brawl carried over here, and they are just representing as much of Zelda as possible in one overall design.

If that was the case, I'd love to Ganondorf in Ocarina style, then it hits as many series highlights as possible. Skyward sword link, TP Zelda, WW toon link, and Ocarina Dorf.
I just hope Ganondorf isn't god awful this game
He'll be slow as shit for sure. I just hope he's actually usable.
I'd be pleased as punch if they give Ganondorf more originality in his move set besides making him a clone of Captain Falcon. I have a hunch this would still happen anyway, but still…

Considering how synchronized Zelda and the Phantom are, it would make sense if the Phantom was one of her attacks. Of course, this could be a coverup on the part of the development team and instead of the Phantom working for Zelda, it could actually still be Toon Zelda. To throw us off the sent, they had Toon Zelda in her Phantom getup attack at the same time as Zelda. Also, considering that there are only three fighters on the field, this is still a possibility.

I can't say that's what it is for certain, but it's a very rational theory, right?
Is it me, or does Zelda look slightly younger here than in Brawl?

Overall, I think the more "realistic" characters have a much better facial structure than in previous games.

Kay, here's my answer to that: Phantom Hourglass Link and Toon Link can be present at the same time, meaning that Sakurai doesn't care about continuity if he's allowing the same character (or the same concept of character: a Toon version of a character) to be in two places at the same time. And even with all that considered, Link and Toon Link have the same exact moveset, meaning he doesn't care to differentiate two versions of the same character. So with that in mind, it's very VERY possible that Toon Zelda could just have the same moveset as regular Zelda, or not exist as a character. Honestly, the new Zelda is probably just a combination of all previous Zeldas, rather than just one particular Zelda. This way, all version can be represented as one character in the roster (something they should've done with Link). Also, why would they advertise the Phantom as an assist trophy on Zelda's page? Isn't the point of a character page to show off the character's moves?
I thought all the pictures were just Sakurai playing around in the game. Most of the pictures haven't been about showing off moves so much as just illustrating things he probably thinks are funny.
He's trollin'.

Seriously, the picture is speculation bait. I think he knew exactly what he was doing when he chose that one.

Maybe tomorrow we could get an explanation, like how Luma was partly explained.

The Toon characters and "Classic" characters are being shown as being very distinct. That's why he was given the "Toon" distinction. I don't see what the issue is here.

This makes zero sense at all.

Zelda is an established character. She's going to play fairly close to how she has played in the past. THAT's why we're not getting screenshots demonstrating all of her moves: We know them already. Sakurai is messing around and showing the newly revealed character in fun poses like he's done with everyone else.

There's no "advertising" of the trophy on her page. It's just in a screenshot. It's like getting up-in-arms about Starfy because he was "advertised" in a Pikachu screenshot.

Ehhh, it's kind of a different thing. Sure they're all meant to just be funny pics, but I think the point of the pictures on the character's pages are to be specific to the actual characters.

Regardless, my point was it's premature to assume it's an assist or an attack. just theorize.
I don't believe she's commanding that phantom. She has the same pose in the screenshot with Link and Peach.
That just reminded me of something. Super Punch out is getting rereleased on the Wii U... Good chance for Mac?
