yeah how bout just put them in the game

There's limits to what can be put into the game. Post-release dlc is something they could make after the fact, expanding the game and maybe even use the opportunity to adjust balance issues if one character ends up being totally broken.

I mean, it is what it is. The characters who are in are already in, they're not adding characters every week until October.

and that's what they're trying to prevent :I

post dlc would be really cool if people want some new characters. if you arent into that stuff, then dont buy it.

Budget is a huge limitation... They could allocate a certain degree of launch-sales to developing content they didn't have the budget for originally.

All I want is Meta Knight, Lucas, Roy, and Mewtwo...That's not in the budget? This is Smash Bros.
Take some time to put in actual characters instead of ZSS and Shiek

Meta knight I doubt is going anywhere. Mewtwo is a possibility in my eyes, and personally I don't think Lucas was similar enough to Ness to merit excluding him (especially since I liked him so much better). Roy is sort of the only character out of that set that I'd see as DLC worthy and less likely as an actual playable, but who knows.

And would you still play Roy if he played totally different? Because that's entirely possible if he did return.

I haven't had a chance to post, but I went to SmashFest yesterday and it was really fun!!

I was really lucky--the closest participating BestBuy was only 30 minutes away.

It started at 4 and 3 other friends and I got there at 2:00pm, but we had to wait until 6 before I got a chance to play.

At first they gave every 4 player group two 2 minute rounds with no stock, but by the time we got to go we only got 1 go.
Honestly, my heart was racing too quickly and I was a little overwhelmed to really get a feel for what the controls were like (and the game froze RIGHT before we started--so we just awkwardly sat on the floor while they tried to reset it :U).

I picked Villager, and though I really couldn't get a good feel for him, he seems to have potential. Moves a lot like Ness, but less floaty (his jump is much more of a simple arc). None of us were able to get a Final Smash (no smash ball even showed up :C), and one of my friends said he didn't like playing as Megaman either.
Also I have never tried the pro controller, so I was having issues just like Vipershark did.

One thing I did notice was the menu screen. It seems minor, but it's very fluid and nicely done. The hand/token/chooser moves between Brawl/Melee speed and it all seemed very nicely polished (plus I adore the new screens).

Still though, the event was really fun! It was kind of amazing to see how many people were there (it was really loud and some people even set up camps).

I would post pictures, but Viper's are much better and the events all kind of looked the same.

If Roy were to return, and he'd have to be redone, I hope they put more emphasis on his double-edged sort of gameplay, which already makes him significantly more unique from Marth, who plays more safely with that sweetspot on the tip.

Like, say, make some of his moves deal brutal amounts of damage/knockback, but make the damage recoil on him as well (if the sweetspot connects with the opponent). Give him his Sol skill to recover health to compensate any self inflicted damage. Also, replace his Double-edged Dance (aka Dancing Blade ripoff) with some sick fire wave slash thingy and boom, make Chrom look like nothing.

Do you guys still think Ice Climbers are gonna return?

Definitely gonna make a Mike Jones mii. Maybe a Geno mii too, but it will look weird.
