I'd be down with DLC characters as long as they're not blatantly added for the sake of being added, more to actually finish up the roster with the other popular characters that should have gotten in because of fan demand or bringing back melee fighters (clones or not I don't care, this is because of nostalgia playing and I actually enjoyed challenging my self with Pichu sometimes in single player despite how shitty he was)

Actually this applies to anyone from brawl that gets cut too.

Another thing that would be awesome for DLC are stage builder parts for free and a shit ton more customization with that. Brawl lacked a lot of possible backgrounds.
I feel like if Stage Builder was a thing this time it would have been revealed by now. At the very least we would have caught a glimpse of it during the montage of the different modes. Which, of course, is very disappointing to me because I love custom stages.
On the contrary, I've been getting the gist that they have a lot more unannounced game modes. It'll probably just end up being standard fare, but one can hope.

I'm interested in seeing what the mode with the map is. It made me think of Soul Calibur 2's adventure mode.
I just want to find home run contest exploits.
i still want Lucina or anyone who isn't generic blue hair swordman

even if she's a different skin for Marth or something i'd be happy tbh

chrom shouldn't be his own character if those leaks (which so far... they are...) are true, should be a skin for ike

TOO MANY BLUE HAIR SWORDMEN
Too many brown-haired fist fighters too. And blonde princesses.

No more, only purple space pterodactyls from now on.
Okay so what I really want is for all of those Megaman alts to be usable alternate skins for Megaman.

They're all obviously rigged and set up for animations (they're all moving in the final smash), so unless they all use different skeletons, they should be able to copy the standard animations from the main Megaman.

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one. I wish they would have used Gamecube controllers instead but I guess they'd have to ship the adapters and new controllers out and that would have inevitably been leaked before e3 or something

So rather then a Blue haired swordsman
you want a blue haired swordswoman?

I'm pretty sure that the skeletons are different, unfortunately. The models are different sizes, so even if they just used the animations on the models the hitboxes (if it's done the way it was in Brawl and not Melee) would be different for each model
I thought that the reason "pikaman" and such exist is because it's a simple matter of swapping over the skeletons
So as long as you scale the model correctly, you should be able to get the exact same results with a different model... right?
Not being able to look at the hit boxes or skeletons for these models, I can only guess, but you wouldn't be able to use any of the other MegaMen without drastically altering their proportions. I'm talking limb-to-body ratio. If you shrunk Volnutt to be as short as MM Classic, just as an example, his arms and legs might become too thin to fit with the skeleton/hit boxes properly. It would come out very strange.

And that's why I want Roy back.

Well, that and the fact that he was more fun to play as than Marth and stuff. Also fire.

(I'm assuming that the animation deal is similar to how it was set up in Brawl.)

Essentially yes. Or well, Pikaman was a thing of combing Pikachu's model and Ganon's animations, rather than using Ganons. However, you can scale the model/animation to where a different model would look okay. However, the problem is (atleast in Brawl) that a character uses one specific animation file. If you changed the animation file to make it to where a different model would be proportional, it would affect the original model as well.
I've been looking at what we know about the characters' custom move sets, and I've noticed a pattern emerging.

It seems that the one main rule that they use when deciding characters' alternate moves is that the character model's animation always has to remain the same, and it can only be the actual effect of the attack that changes.

For the obvious example, when Mario uses his different neutral specials, he will always use the same "throwing a fireball" animation, and only the effect of the fireball he throws will actually change. And when he swings his cape you will always see the same cape swing, but it may do something like blow out a gust of air.

So for this reason we are definitely not going to see something like the alternate moves some people have been suggesting for his FLUDD attack, such as using the jet or rocket nozzles.

And for something like, say, Kirby's up special, you will always get the same Final Cutter animation, but they may do something like change the size of the sword or make him create an explosion when he lands instead of a shockwave. But it's not going to change to a forward slash a la Project M or anything.

The obvious exceptions to the rule are the Miis and, by the sound of Sakurai, Palutena is also getting special considerations. (Kind of unfair if you ask me, giving special considerations to one of his own characters*).

SO! With this in mind, does anyone want to take a stab in the dark as to what some of the characters' alternate special moves may be?

(*Note: I know Palutena existed before Sakurai took over the Kid Icarus series, but he is responsible for her modern persona.)
