True, although if Ice Climbers were cut, it would be by far one of the most devastating cuts made to the series (next to Mewtwo in my opinion, who I liked better). However, there's one fact that I ALWAYS forget when Ice Climbers' plausibility on the 3DS gets brought up, and that's the existence of Rosalina and Luma. Another two-in-one character and it works out fine. Sure, Luma's geometry is probably simpler, but overall you're still controlling two characters at once. Thus I think that the Climbers shouldn't have too much trouble returning at this point.
So, I just watched the nintendo direct a few hours ago. What was the confusion with megas? After a certain point, maybe damage, maybe after a final smash, etc., the Pokemon will go into its mega form, which has the same moveset but provides benefits. The reasoning behind having other characters split was to allow players to choose their preferred character without having to worry about another character moveset.
I think they might be their Final Smash. He wasn't clear but that's what makes sense.
So I can get around Lucario simply transforming into his Mega and go super saiyin up everyone's asses.

But Charizard should do some crazy fiery blast (Blast Burn?) so that it doesn't feel the same as Lucario's. The fact he Mega Evolves should just be aesthetic.
I was hoping the MegaEvolutions would just be costumes, honestly. That was before the Direct.

"Lip's Stick is an item but no Lip..."

It's a little different comparing a character who has never been in Smash Bros. before to one that has already been in two of them.
Mega Evos are probably Final Smashes because of how Mega Lucario's aura is always maxed. That isn't to say it won't just transform without a Final Smash, but full aura seems overpowered for not being a final smash, and Mega Evos haven't really been associcated with taking high damage

Yes but it's not a one hundred percent confirmation either. You can't go claiming they're confirmed just because of an item. At best it's a "most likely".
I see mega lucario as being a bit of a disadvantage actually. Heck, normal Lucario vaulted an entire stage. If he's mega, he might just vault off screen.
Does anyone know what the newest rumor about a newcomer is?

I agree with you. It's just like there's tiers of plausibility where you've got Lip comparisons on the bottom and 100% confirmed at the tip. Float the middle.

The dude that leaked some newcomers to Gematsu "leaked" again. He said Shulk, PacMan, The Chorus Men from Rhymthm Heaven, Miis, and some FE dude would be newcomers.

Here's a video of of some guys talking about it

I REALLY hope the chorus boys aren't going to be characters.
Most of the stuff posted on that channel is merely speculation. During a segment about "Analysis" of characters who were hinted at appearing, they said how Pac Man appeared in the clouds in the Greninja trailer. However, before they even said what they found I noticed Pac Man-esque images in the clouds on a screenshot of final destination, and it wasn't even the ones they were talking about, and I immediately am like "We're just seeing things that aren't there." Granted, Pac Man is a wanted character, but I don't think the clouds are meant to hint at him to be honest.

Anyway, if that list is all the remaining newcomers, I'd be MILDLY disappointed, but in terms of numbers that's around the right number of newcomers. Always open to more, though.
Who are the Chorus Boys?
if you've ever played rhythm heaven for the ds (which I'd assume you haven't), the chorus boys are in one of the minigames in there:

Then, in Rhythm Heaven Fever for the Wii, a similar-looking character appears in a minigame that plays during the credits:

(since only 1 video can be in a single post)
He also appears in a few other places in that game, so I guess some might consider him a mascot of sorts. Maybe. Sort of. I guess.

Pacman's a super simple character design, so it's very easy for him to seemingly "appear" in all sorts of images.
Not to mention, remember when people thought they saw things in the clouds in the Subspace Emissary trailer?
