Meh, more like Olimar to promote Pimin 3, Luigi to promote M&L 4, Random Peach, Took Link to promote WW. Pokemon is the next big release. That doesn't mean we won't get Yoshi in the interim.
As long as Toon Link isn't just Link again, I approve 100%.

dunno man, mewtwo is really making a comeback, and he's like the third mascot of x & y right now, having two forms for each version ( which will make an awesome 50/50 final smash, different each time used )
but jigglypuff would make more sense i guess, been around since smash one and is after pikachu the biggest pokémon of the franchise
and they already broke the pattern with revealing luigi
mewtwo will still be in the game i'm pretty sure.

As much as I'd like Toon Link to have a unique moveset, the pictures shown don't make me too hopeful. Which is a shame, because each incarnation of Link has so many unique tools to draw on...
Anyways, I think Toon Ganondorf has a fairly decent shot since there isn't a Ganondorf incarnation for Skyward Sword. I'm worried about Sheik, though. Not so much worried that she won't be there, but more worried about how she'll turn out. Tetra would be neat and all, but pirate is a far cry from ninja. And Skyward Zelda doesn't really seem like she'd have a Sheik equivalent.
Edit: I also wonder if Sakurai was bullshitting us about cutting characters and making the roster more compact. It seems like he's upset that he can't surprise fans anymore, but maybe lowering their expectations will allow him to do that?

I thought I was the only one feeling that!
I think we'll get regular ol' Ganondorf again. The characters in SSB are supposed to be the definitive versions of those characters. That's why Toon Link has to be differentiated.
That said, if Sakurai is trying to lower expectations in order to surprise us all, 10/10, would date.

Oh and Ness, Jigglypuff and Falcon would be great because they're the only 64 vets left but really I don't like the order of character announcements.

Also, as for the Toon Link reveal, I really hope Ninty decides to deviate him from Link like Mario/Luigi have begun to be fairly different: start with a different Final Smash, and then give Toon Link one or two specials inspired by Wind Waker.
(e.g. Toon Link could have his Deku Leaf as his B-Down in midair to glide, and on ground to blow opponents away with a gust (neither being abuseable, due to overuse eventually draining the magic out of it and leaving Toon Link with only a dead Leaf for a little while). Or his Skull Hammer could be his Side-B, to side swipe and smack enemies with decent attack power, at the cost of a start-up delay and cool-down period after use.)
I've wanted Diskun in Smash 4 since before Brawl came out >.>;
