Three of them drove things, one of them was a toy that cotrolled doors and platforms at best, and two were given ice powers to compensate.

Skull Kid has demonstrated:

A - Musical proficiency in a world where instruments contain mystical properties.
B - There are darts in his instruments.
C - Athleticism.
D - Some form of teleportation.

And that's without Majora's Mask. Considering that he's wearing it, it opens all of Majora's abilities to him, including growing fucking tentacles and possible allowing for a Majora's Incarnation or Wrath transformation.

"He didn't do anything" isn't a very sound argument as to why he couldn't be in the game.

As to why anybody would expect him to be playable? I think there's kind of a fine line between expecting and wishing, and I haven't really seen anyone crossing it.
I've seen dozens of people on various sites that seemed to have convinced themselves that he would have been playable for whatever reason. As for his potential move and abilities, I was only considering what Skullkid himself did in MM (and I wasn't really considering the additional abilities of the mask, or the things that they could do in OoT). So yeah, I guess I could see a moveset of some sort being made for him. I'm actually almost hoping to see him as a boss if this game has them.
I never expected Skull Kid for the record. Key word is fantasized. It's like if you imagine a character who was never on a Nintendo console, it's just a fantasy with no real applicable merit.

I did make a moveset idea for SK too, though.
Where's Travis Touchdown.
I need him.
I'd honestly rather have a three-stage Majora battle for a boss, to be honest. Not sure how regular-size bosses would work out for Smash since the idea is that boss characters are too large to be tossed around.

As far as ROB: I don't mind, but I personally like when Nintendo gives shout outs to their representative characters. I'm personally hoping for Diskun (or is it Disk-kun?) this time around. I'd also like it if the Ultra-Hand were utilized as an item. The little shopping bag from the eShop might make a cool AT.
I just noticed something, it seems that each smash bros since melee tries to bring in 2 older characters. Melee had Ice Climbers and Mr. Game & Watch, and Brawl had Pit and ROB. This makes me wonder what we could be seeing in the new game(s) if this trend continues. I'd like to see Muddy Mole as I'm sure they could whip out a moveset for him, but if nothing else I'd like to see him as an AT.
I am betting Little Mac and Lip.
Idk if Little Mac would fall in that category seeing as he starred a game on the Wii. I will say that considering the boxing arena (which GameXplain pointed out multiple similarities between it and the one from Punch-Out) I think that Mac has a decent chance of showing up.
I'm pretty sure Sakurai mentioned wanting to give more service to NES franchises.

I'm thinking and hoping Takamaru, being included in nintendo land of all things.

he's been in captain rainbow (captain rainbow for alt. costume for c. falcon please )

he's been in samurai warrior's 3 which nintendo gave permission for

his orginal artwork, could easily fit in with link, marth and the likes

hell they could even make him a cardbox figure like the ninja's in nintendo land

personally, i love The Mysterious Murasame Castle. i think it still should be released in europe and the usa. it also got some rockin' music

i think murasame castle is the franchise nintendo should give new life to now. it could play like zelda, only way more faster paced, more a hack and slash kind of game. clearing levels/worlds in a stage or overworld. would really love to see that happen

the other one is probably little mac yeah, unless villager with boxing gloves has something to do with it.

It was a stupid toy for the NES that from what I've heard barely worked, and was only used in 1 (2?) games. Why he gets so many cameos to the point of being a playable character in Smash Bros. is beyond me. ROB is Assist Trophy material. I mean Mr. Game & Watch was pretty obscure but was actually really creative and he well represented an era of Nintendo. ROB is just...a robot...so he uses lasers and jet boosters!!! Like robots!!! Whoa!

The rob is also part of the Nintendo history, as big as the Game & Watch. Remember the Atari game crash? Remember the terrible ET videogame? Those made people not like games for a lot of time. Nintendo had created Rob to market the NES as a toy instead of videogame (which, if not redesigned, would not be promplty accepted by the skeptical people).

Basically the Rob paved the way for the NES to actually be successful, and despite being a huge gimmick, it is placed high in the Nintendo pantheon because without it, the NES wouldnt be as great.
Considering that Nintendo broke into the video game market by using a gimmick, it makes me wonder why people still complain about the other gimmicks Nintendo tried over the years.

Since it's been gimmicks and console exclusives (which might as well be considered gimmicks in their own right) that brought Nintendo to what it is today, why bother complaining about them at all?
Quote:Takamaru and Lip could be better fits for that role. And they're also not as abysmally obscure.

Actually I think Barbara has a couple of advantages over them.

-She's been in four games
-Her games are very successful in Japan
-Her series is not dead (they are releasjng a new game for the 3DS
-She's been an assist trophy.

Yeah I know these aren't really that good of arguments but it's something. I'll admit I'd like to see Barbara the Bat as a playable character. She'd attack by swinging her guitar around and blasting electric sound waves!

Not happening of course but it would be cool.
The fact Takamaru was featured in Nintendo Land is interesting, it proves that it isn't just some dead series to Nintendo. Unlike things like the Famicom Disk Detective series, man they dont give a FUCK bout those games....
This isn't related to the classic characters thing, but I hope we see Captain Syrup in the game. I could see her attacking with bombs, and maybe by using various minions of hers or something.
Honestly, I would be fine if anything from the Wario Land games showed up. It is almost like Nintendo is ignoring them entirely.
