That looks more like a naginata adapted for European use than a trident...

I agree that it would be dope.
So someone posted this slowed down image of the Ridley shadow from the April direct:

It appears to be jumping, which is something I like. HOWEVER, there's no reason a boss character can't land and then jump back into a flight mode after doing ground-based attacks.

I've reached that point where I'm searching for something new and exciting within small bits of information, like looking through the 3DS trailer from E3 at the section where they pass over a bunch of trophies and look for any playable character who was not yet revealed and mistakenly put into the Trophy lineup. Sadly, that has been rather fruitless. All that's done is make me believe Toad's trophy looks like one of the playable character renders (Which might make sense since his model for Peach's B attack is probably better rendered than other trophies would be), that the red blob-like thing beside Diddy Kong is actually K. Rool, and that I think I see a trophy of Duo from Megaman Battle Network 4 in the far back.

Also, I liked yesterday's update with the various Sword Mii specials. All of them were pretty boss, especially the gale sword.
can you provide a pic of the trophy shots for us?
This is the only still frame I could find.

Note that I don't actually think Toad is playable. The playable character trophies seem to be mostly consolidated to the front rows (mostly, as there are some other types of trophies floating around in those rows, though namely variations of Pikmin and Wii Fit poses). Toad seems to be just on the row behind any of the other actual playables.

As for the video it came from, the trophy shots are about 1:38. When it zooms out you can barely tell what's what.
The duo trophy is a great reaper from Kid icarus uprising.

Diddy kong is nowhere in the shot, so I don't see any king k roolish thing.

edit: oh the zoom out...yeah dunno what the red thing is, but if it were King K. the trophy shouldn't be facing his back.

The big blue thing in the back is a Zelda thing for sure.
Not in the screenshot, when the full zoom happens in the video. In the far back there's something with a Duo-like horn headpiece and no lower body, and Diddy Kong is on the far left. The red blob thing I actually think is some kind of pikmin, perhaps... Were there any incredibly fat Pikmin in the games? I've never played them before.
The Purple Pikmin are the fattest variety around.
On the Ridley thread in the Smash Boards we've analyzed the hell out of that shadow. A couple of things we've determined based on it: size of Ridley and distance from the ground.

Ridley is considerably smaller than his boss form in Brawl.

Congratulations Sakurai, I have no clue what is happening in this picture.

Closest I can figure all those blocks are dropping on the player and you have to destroy them? Not sure what the combo meter and such would be for in that case. It doesn't seem particularly exciting if that's all there is to it ...
But it's Trophy Run. Shouldn't that be obvious from the name alone?!

Lol, in all seriousness, it's probably an alternative to the minigames you'd play for acquiring trophies in the previous Smash Bros. titles, instead playing like Smash Runs but instead...you get trophies.
tl;dr you spend 5 minutes running around a maze breaking crates and collecting trophies as quick as you can
captain toad should be playable
The generic background and tileset for this Smash Rush mode leads me to believe Stage Maker will return.

There was a little bit of footage of the mode in the video that was posted earlier with the trophy hoard. ...But yeah, it looks like there are different types of blocks dropping on the player.

but how is he at all balanced if he can't jump...
He takes heavily reduced knockback.
Like, at 300% and being hit by Ike's full forward smash, he gets knocked back like 1 inch.

Then he has an attack where he spawns a pair of doors, one by him and one somewhere above him, and then he goes through and drops down.
Also if he drops on you, you die instantly.

All his other moves are completely useless though.
