That's disappointing because I'm still hoping to see Dillon in the game (though the likeliness of that happening is decreasing exponentially) and his six-shooter is one of the iconic things about him.

Then again, they could easily make a moveset without his gun given all the other neat abilities he has.

I wasn't stating that having guns on the shoes is explicitly the reason she can't be used, I was pointing out how integral guns are to her character overall. The fact that they're a fictional concept has nothing to do with why they do or don't want to use them.

I get that, but the only guns that matter are ones which exist in real life. Between magic hair, hack-and-slash, and shoe-guns, there isn't any real need for Bayonetta to utilize handguns. They got around it with Snake, they can certainly get around it with Bay, or any other character with a similar skill set.

This conversation, by the way, has kind of reminded me of one character I've always been kind of curious about as far as how they would fit into a Smash context. There was an article or interview at some point that mentioned James Bond as interpreted by Rare being a candidate for the original Super Smash Bros. for the N64 that managed to survive through several rounds of concept cuts. I often find myself wondering where the franchise would be today had he made it through.
Just because they aren't feasible doesn't mean that her guns definitely LOOK like guns, function like guns, and most of her iconic abilities and outfits center around guns. The fact of the matter is that despite the fact the guns are unfeasibly attached to her shoes, they are likely going to have the same, if not somehow worse impact as regular guns.

Actually, I'm going to go deeper than that and suggest Bonk. Then we'd have each of the big three 90s video game console-making companies get representation in Smash.

I'd love to have Konami represented with a pokeball style thing for Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. That'd be all kinds of awesome, even if it only centered around main anime/manga cards and select archetype mascots. It won't happen because that's a lot of work for something this late into development that isn't even Nintendo related, but it'd be nice.

This is not true for gun-blades, and it isn't going to be true for gun-shoes.

Edit: After re-reading your first sentence, I don't really get it.

"Just because they aren't feasible doesn't mean that..."

Doesn't mean what? That they can't work around them?
No, that they won't cause censorship issues. This here is a perfect example of how it WOULD cause problems. So say, hypothetically, her standard guns do cause problems and would have to be removed.

See the issue here? Her shoe guns are exactly the same as her hand guns. They look like guns and act like guns. They are guns.

Could they work around this design? Probably. Could they include feet guns if they had to remove her hand guns? Probably not. That's what I'm saying.
Sakurai's team has already made a point of changing problematic designs with ZSS's heels... I'm sure they could make less gunly gun-shoes.

And the "IT LOOKS LIKE GUNS" scare tactic totally disregards the other gun-shaped... guns featured in the game. If censorship works on looks alone, then we've gotta step on wiping out all those laser blasters pronto!

I guess there's a few points for "bullets" elevating Bay's guns above the laser blasters (it's the same argument that was made during Spider-Man: The Animated Series), but I really think feasibility has a lot more influence over it than bullets do. Not to mention the character that actually is a bullet being featured in the game.
You're ignoring the fact that through each iteration of the game they go out of their way to make the Ray Gun less and less gun-like. In this game it looks more like a big gun-shaped flashlight, or like it's meant to shoot tennis balls.
You're ignoring the fact that Fox, Falco, Wolf, and ZSS all utilize very gunly guns way more frequently than the Ray Gun ever even shows up.

And that they can make Bay's guns not so gunly.
fox, falco, wolf, and zero suit samus' guns all fire lasers and not bullets. bayonetta's guns would probably need to be redesigned to do the same.

really, if sakurai (or kamiya) wanted bayonetta in the game, they'd find a way to make her suitable.

That's exactly what I've been saying for this entire page.

Like literally exactly what I've been saying.

You are not countering my argument you are restating it.

aaaaahhhhhh
But turning her guns into laser rifles would be completely changing her character. Even if Sakurai and his minions weren't so adamant about keeping characters as true to their roots as possible, the fans would never stand for that.
That's called someone agreeing with you.

Somehow it short circuited you.

legit question: is this hypothetical situation anything like snake's? i've never played a single metal gear solid game, so i don't know how frequently firearms are used in those games, but i'd figure it's pretty often, with snake's other gadgets taking the sidelines. he's no batman.

i've also never played bayonetta. does she do anything other than fire guns and do stuff with her hair?
Look, people: it's because they don't want include me in the game. They hate bullets.
