Hopefully it's just something like if the person on the ledge would be pulled off if they had been on there for a bit. I'd hate for edgehogging to be completely gone
What do we think about the Palutena "leak"? I think it's totally plausible and if it's true, I'm happy.

I doubt anyone would have a leak like that so far away from an event.
Could be an Assist Trophy.
If it is legit, I think the curve of her lip looks weird, almost like she's trying to make this face Cute

I reaaaaally hope its real and she's playable, though.
Someone on another forum said that Assists don't have black outlines. Not sure if that's true, but...
I'd say that seems like something pretty difficult to prove, considering it's known that you can change the thickness of the outlines on characters if you don't like them, and I'm willing to bet you could go no outline if you wanted..
I think Palutena has a good chance, I just think it's unlikely that there would be a leak at this time.
Considering several factors, including how many people requested Palutena, I'd say the pic is real; however, you guys remember a lot of good VG hoax made with expert Photoshop skills, right?

Beides, I think the Smash Bros. development team would do a better job of keeping leaks like this from coming out. I don't think a good 3DS prototype chip is ready at this point in development.
I find it suspect that the images are for the 3DS which is the system which she has already appeared on, which would make it easier to hoax the images.

Going back to yesterday's topic, I have a question for everybody;

How many of you found yourself introduced to various game franchises BECAUSE of Smash Bros? I'm mostly referring to the first game, but I will accept which ever one you played first.

The N64 Smash Bros introduced me to a LOT. When I played the game for the first time the only franchises I really knew well were Mario, Kirby, and Donkey Kong.

- The Legend of Zelda franchise I knew a tiny bit about having played a bit of Link's Awakening several years prior, and I knew of Ocarina of Time, but Smash Bros is really the one responsible for getting me interested in it. And now it's my second-favorite franchise of all time.

- Pokemon I only really knew about from the anime, which I wasn't really a watcher of, however my sister was so I knew at least a little bit. I'd later be interested enough to check out Pokemon Red.

- My knowledge of Star Fox was limited to "it's a parody of Star Wars but with animals". Honestly Smash Bros didn't do much to change my perception on this series.

- I had barely even heard of Metroid prior to playing Smash Bros for the first time. And in fact for quite a while I thought the "Samus" character we fought with was actually a robot. It wasn't until I happened to pause the screen when she was getting electrocuted that I was like "Whoa, there's a person in there! ... and are those boobs?" This would eventually get me to buy Metroid Prime immediately at release.

- The game also introduced me to F-Zero and Earthbound, but I can't say I remember being very interested in those characters, so they kind of slipped by me.

- Later Melee would also introduce me to Fire Emblem, but I think the same can be said about pretty much any of us occidentals, considering a Fire Emblem game hadn't been released in the west as of that time.

Anyways I'm interested in hearing you guys' stories.
N64 introduced me to:

Earthbound

Melee introduced me (through characters) to:

Fire Emblem
Ice Climber

Through Trophies:

Custom Robo
Mach Rider
Animal Crossing
Clu Clu Land
Kid Icarus

And a handful of things I haven't played yet (Doshin the Giant, Famicom Mystery Series).

Brawl introduced me to:

Nothing.
I'd never heard of Metroid until Super Smash Bros. 64 came out way back when. I read the bios of all the characters and saw Samus was in three games. And also a woman. Kinda went, "Huh, thought it was a robot. Oh well!"

Got Metroid Prime and Fusion for Christmas a few years later.

... And now I'm a walking repository of Metroid lore and knowledge.
Smash bros has gotten me to admire most Nintendo Franchises, to be honest. Even shit like Assist Trophies have gotten me interested.

I was reading some thread someone linked that discussing the legitimacy of that image, and apparently none of the shot's assets are close enough to the actual models or available shots or something.

of course, it could just be that the person just made some things from scratch / edited models/textures/etc. and constructed a fake screenie that way. It's certainly not out of the question.

Regarding changes to ledge-holding, it's discussed more here: http://www.polygon.com/2014/1/22/5334626...ge-camping
but essentially, I guess people can grab ledges that someone else is already hanging from in some cases. my opinion here is kinda moot.
Interesting thing to note:
On the 3DS, Rosalina has an outline, but Luma doesn't. This could mean AT's most likely don't have outlines either.

I think it looks legit. I say "looks", not "is". If it's a Photoshop, it's a damn great one. Since Uprising is a recent and popular revival, I'm not surprised if Palutena's officially playable.
If this is true, what will become of Pit's FS? I think either Palutena's replaced by Viridi, or (Great) Sacred Treasure(s).
