Also I'm personally hoping for some Disco Kid musical action. That and the Minor Circuit Championship bout.

Clearly Glass Joe should be the assist trophy. Does nihilistic damage and one hit to him knocks him right out.

The catch is sometimes he will spawn with boxing headgear and take more hits to KO.

seriously i love it so much, it looks so action comic like. now i want a punch out comic series, with splash cover and all.

also i love how this trailer was more like smash bros meets punch out, instead of punch out' meets smash bros. i would love to see more trailers like that, focusing on the art style the game it's representing

for example, if Takamaru gets announced, i would love it if the part of the trailer is in 8bit

One thing I like a lot about this installment is the focus in making characters unique or special. For example, mega man has unique projectile based standard attacks, Rosalina has Luma for some hybrid of Ice climbers and olimar, the villager attacks being almost entirely found objects, and Mac has the KO meter. They even are going back and making Veterans more special attributes. Toon Link being in a stage an replaceable in that stage for example, or there being a lot of focus on Lucario's powered up Aura attributes.

I think that the special trait for WFT may be her alternate gender costume. I also think, by the logic of making characters stand out from each other, there's probably not a whole lot of alternate costume options.

I'd wish they'd fix up Mario then. Some characters like Bowser are getting a huge overhaul while Mario and DK seem pretty much the same.

Actually I remember a quote saying that DK had been powered up, and a that current stage that he might need further balancing. It was an early Pic of the Day.

Personally I'd love if they brought back Dr Mario as a costume. It would still be unique to him, in the sense that it could be the only costume that changes attack effects (the pills for example).

I think they have been balancing all the beterans, it's just that not all of them are getting an overhaul like Bowser, who I personably think had it coming. He looks awesome now.

Doc would be an awesome alt. If Project M can do it, there's no reason the official game shouldn't be able to.

As for the next 5 announced characters? Barring any newcomers, I'm going to say Diddy, Ice Climbers, Yoshi, Lucas, Wario (not necessarily in that order).

All this talk of making the characters different was great, but then Toon Link returned with the same old boring moveset. No utilizing other Zelda items, nope. Just the same moveset as regular Link but with midair sword swipes instead of kicks. The whole "making older characters more unique" thing is just more hypespeak and you shouldn't get too excited about the remaining unrevealed veterans being spruced up.

yeah, in terms of Veterans getting spruced up, I expect that it'll only be Bowser and Pit.

Okay, I understand Diddy and Yoshi. But why Climbers, Lucas and Wario?

Vets are definitely not getting super big changes. Bowser seems the most different, but his specials all appear the same.

That being said, expect to see the return of Captain Ganondorfalcon and Falco's landmaster. Also at this point I'm thinking Ness or Lucas is getting the cut Sakurai mentioned, because rumors said Lucas was supposed to replace Ness in Brawl, but for some reason they just had both.

All speculation though. Things can end up totally different.

lucas was already supposed to replace ness in melee, but that got cancelled because mother 3 was once again cancelled around that time. apparently this is the reason why sakurai and itoi have some bad blood with each other. i don't know if this is true or not, but some say it explains the lack of mother series material in brawl ( most of the music that didn't make the cut in brawl but is still in the files is from mother )

also i've said this before i believe, but i don't think neither ness or lucas is getting the cut. and if one has to go i think it's going to be lucas. ness has two big advantages over him;

while i think ness and lucas are equally loved by smash players now, and it's true lucas was going to replace ness already at melee; lucas time is over now. lucas was going to replace ness in smash because mother 3 was coming any time back then, but now it has been released and it didn't even leave japan.

while earthbound got a re-release for the wii u e-shop and reached even europe this time around. and ofcourse he's been there from the beginning.

but again, i don't think lucas or ness is getting cut. we'll be seeing both back if you ask me
