Japan fucking loves its fads are you kidding me?

After translating all of the avatar parts of IIDX the majority of them are fads or stereotypes of their own culture, if they are not then they are specifically avatar parts for a character for the game, or a character from a song, which honestly are all filled with their own steroetypes (Like Lilith, who is this goth girl who does her own magic Spells and gets protected by her older brother who is also goth and brews potions).

Like, if you have any interest in any game that comes from Japan at all (Like Nintendo) then you better get used to it, because thats what they do, even if you don't ~notice~ them, they exist.

Also lol Isabelle isn't Moe, you have no idea what moe is.
I'm not talking about Japan, I'm talking about Nintendo. Nintendo has always been pretty good at doing their own thing. The main reason I prefer them over any other company. They have a distinct flavor. It's timeless.

As for Isabelle being moe, I'm going by the TVtropes definition.
Nintendo's games are so full of fads and stereotypes.

I think the biggest reason why you don't specifically notice them is because you don't understand how Japan sees their culture or anyone else's culture.

Remember Mario Sunshine? Delfino Square and it's inhabitants are basically how they see Hawaii.

Go ahead, give me a character, I can tell you what fad and/or stereotype they fit into with the Japanese Culture.

EDIT: Also Teeth loop thingy you had mentioned is just an art style type of thing, it's honestly not a terrible way to draw teeth if you actually look at someone talking and how their lip interacts with their teeth.
Super Mario Sunshine was primarily based on Italian culture but that's besides the point. You're pretty much taking hints of things and saying that makes them no better than other companies. I mean nothing is 100% pure or original. That's impossible!
Then why are you expecting to be Isabelle to be 100% pure and original?
Because she's like 2% pure and original. But like I said. That didn't bother me originally.

It's this whole waifu thing. The way everyone acts like these types of characters are the best things ever.

It made me realize, she's not successful because she's a unique character, she's successful because she meets a quota.

But whatever. Is this conversation going anywhere? Not really.
The only thing I don't like about Isabelle is that her role in the game could have been filled by Pelly as she had served a similar purpose for Tortimer in the previous games. It's always bothersome when a new character is created where an existing character could have been made more important.

But fortunately they created yet another appealing character, so it's hard to actively begrudge the developers for doing so.
Well this is all about tastes and subjective stuff. Sorry to make this weird topic about Isabelle haha!

She is more then 2% original. She really doesn't fit the Moe type, not even the TVTropes definition (she does fit it a little but not a lot honestly) and the fact that everyone loves her means the developers did their job and did it properly. (She definetly has a "Senpai notice me" type of personality at times but beyond that she is pretty original)

You don't have to hate everything that everyone else loves, form your own opinions instead of forcing yourself against the grain.
All right, can we please stop arguing and change the subject?
(10-01-2014, 03:39 AM)Koopaul Wrote: [ -> ]Well I think why you can't seem to understand where I'm coming from is because you see Isabelle as her own distinct thing, and not this dominant cliched trend in Japanese entertainment.

Shouldn't that be how everything is judged? Why does everything need to be evaluated by things going on outside of it? The way things should be is that everything should be judged solely on its own merits. This comment makes no sense to me, it seems like you're trying to make this sound like a bad thing but it sounds to me more like a congratulatory statement.

Sorry I'm late to the conversation this just came off as bizarre to me.
If you don't like Isabelle for that reason then you must hate Ghirahim too. He's a very unique Zelda villain, but then you look at villains in other Japanese media and you see his character type often.

But I like Ghirahim because I see him as his own unique thing, as you said.
Changing the subject...

What games are you most excited for, other than Smash 4?
Smash 5.
Heart Forth Alicia, because we need more beautiful pixel art games.
