"Well, you guys have seen that Cloud is in Smash Bros. now. He's the final DLC. Good night."

*Twenty minutes of static-y silence and Sakurai staring at the camera*
It'll actually be more like a snuff film of him staring at the grainy camera and saying "I'm sorry Paul" before cutting his stomach open and dying.
Iwata is the smash ballot winner.
There could be a chance of him saying this is the last smash title he'll be working on.

I'm pretty sure he said that with both Brawl and Melee, lol
I would really like it if this really was his final one, though.

Don't mistake me, I like Sakurai, and I think he's done an excellent job with the series. But it's because I like him that I really want him to be able to move on to bigger and better projects of his own and not getting stuck with the long and stressful task of creating a new Smash game every few years.
In the article that talked about Sakurai's decision to include FE Lords, he talked about loving his work on Smash Bros. and how he really enjoys working with the franchise and that he can't see it in other hands.

Essentially: "Yeah, I'm doing Smash 5 now."
It's weird because that's a stark contrast to his apparent stance on the series before smash 4 (and some of the theories about smash 4 itself and his reactions to leaks).

Perhaps Smash 4 recolored his perception on the series somehow?
That's the biggest problem about Sakurai. He feels like Smash is his baby and his vision for it is the most important thing.

Normally I'd agree. I think a creator should make a work how he wants it. But Smash is a special case. It's dealing with franchises and fandoms of all kinds. You CAN'T treat it like your personal pet project.

I think it's something that will change when/if they make a Smash 5 announcement. Right now he's coming off that "Fuck yeah, look at what I made" high (I'll go ahead and call it a Creative Honeymoon). Later on, during that slump of stress and deadlines, he'll be like "Dude, making this thing for you ungrateful assholes fucking sucks."
Can leak-talk be in spoilers until after the direct tomorrow?

Edit: thank you
Rare has been doing a series of videos about the details of their games ever since Rare Replay dropped. Today, they went in and revealed some footage from the SNES game they were working on that eventually became Banjo-Kazooie- "Dream".

An RPG with graphics similar to Donkey Kong Country?! Man sign me up. it's a shame Dream wasn't developed further, it's something I definitely would be interested in playing.
Spontaneous thought of the day:

The Wii U is the perfect console for PC titles which haven't been able to make the console leap due to exclusively utilizing mouse controls. Point and Click adventure games in particular would work extremely well on the system. It's sad that so few developers are taking advantage of this.
