Well, a lot of longtime Zelda fans are also interested in it, because that open world thing sort of gives them the vibe that it'd be a return to form, where the whole world is open for a non-linear, player driven experience like the first game, which is more than welcome at this point, after all these linear games. Zelda's entire foundation was founded on the basis of exploration was we know, and it strayed far from it as the series continued, and went more towards a narrative. Why not have a narrative AND a player driven experience? That's what they hope the new game will accomplish. A Link Between Worlds was a good step in the right direction for the return to form.
Someone on Facebook made a pretty good point that the window of development has increased from with each game starting from Majora's Mask as shown below, so we should expect something really groundbreaking and hope that Nintendo can pull it off.

1986 – The Legend of Zelda
1987 – The Adventure of Link
1991 – A Link to the Past
1998 – Ocarina of Time
2000 – Majoras Mask
2002 – The Wind Waker
2006 – Twilight Princess
2011 – Skyward Sword
2017 – Zelda Wii U

I'm not sure, but I think the list mainly concerns the home console games, ports and spin-offs excluded.

...Ya know, all this Zelda talk is reminding me I really should get around to play Skyward Sword. I have a functioning Wiimote again now, nothing's stoppin' me.
The biggest thing about Skyward Sword that I liked was just how mobile Link was. Running, kicking off walls - Prince of Persia Lite, yo. I'm hoping they build on that mobility in this game. Link in Twilight Princess HD felt so stiff.

I guess it's fair to include Link's Awakening. The Oracle games are more or less spin-offs that use the same style, whereas Link's Awakening was the next masterpiece after A Link to the Past despite being on a handheld.
>not counting the Oracle games

get out of my house

As for ZeldaU, I can't easily say I feel one way or another yet, because we've literally seen next to nothing for it since it was announced three years ago in a Direct. But at least it'll make the NX's launch far more exciting than the 3DS' or WiiU's.

Speaking of the NX, just wanna chime in and say that it's so boneheaded that Nintendo's still not trying to unveil it despite its launch being less than a year after E3 (and unless their unveiling is literally right the hell after E3, having an even shorter time period between reveal and release is just ridiculous).
I don't know what they're thinking to be honest.
Maybe it's not ready. Maybe it's going to get delayed like all the recent games like Star Fox and Zelda.

Basically it seems to me that it's not in a state that's ready to be seen by the public.
I hope they don't pull a Rise of Lyric/Street Fighter V...With a new console, no less. I can understand how people feel uneasy with an official release so soon after E3.
With Nintendo doing, well, a bit shit, lately I'm guessing the want to go to market full force. Instead of the Wii U's no one knows what it is and it has nothing on it launch.

Regardless of how much some enjoyed it I'd say the Wii U kinda bombed.
Which is a shame because it had some amazing games. That's a good thing about Nintendo, they always have great games for every system despite its success.
Any Warhammer fans here? Here's the announcement trailer for Dawn of War 3!

By the Emperor! This is the best looking CGI I've ever seen. I look forward to seeing gameplay once it comes around.
Since Relic's part of Sega now. I wonder if they'll feature anything related as easter eggs.
Apparently NIS is releasing a Touhou fan game for the PS4 in the US this summer...

...I don't think there's ever been a fan game officially published for a home console before.
Riiiiiiiiiiiight...
