I installed it today, just did the kind of intro stuff and caught a Bulbasaur but it's already night here so I can't really go explore. Hopefully the weather's OK tomorrow and I can get to some nearby PokeStops and try catch some more Pokemon.
Few friends of mine are experiencing server issues. But i think for the most part it's a big hit so far.
I haven't been able to get out too much this week, but hopefully I'll be able to soon-ish to go get more Pokemon.

Konami... I don't understand what your naming process where, but after 18th style you literally threw out all logic and just started to either take foreign words, or some shit like this.

This is very comfy.
Saw some gameplay of Pokemon Go. Unimpressed, it looks more shallow than the real games, and like a Pokemon reskin of a generic mobile game.

You want an actual Pokemon game on mobile? Take a look at EvoCreo.

Just judging by the thumbnail, I see virtual touch screen buttons, meaning this could've just as well have been on any other gaming device.
Pokémon GO, as shallow as it may be, actually makes use of the fact that it's a mobile game. (I haven't played it myself, mind. I don't have a smart device or any kind of mobile phone for that matter.)
Pokemon go isn't targeting people who want a Pokemon game on mobile. It's for us who grew up with Red and Blue, love nostalgia and want to talk about Pokemon with our friends again.

It's a social game with Pokemon paint.
I grew up with Red and Blue, sometimes nostalgia (But over Crystal!), and still talk about Pokemon with my friends. I guess I don't fit the prerequisite =C.
There's also the fact that you haven't played it. Many gameplay videos don't express how it actually feels to play, and this is especially true in this case. I'd encourage you to give it a spin if you get the chance, just to experience it yourself.
I have now. Squirtle on my laptop, and then from there, nothing I can do for now, lol. Other things out in driving distance, but not walking distance. Chucking pokeballs using a swipe mechanic feels odd. I think it's more surprising that there's anything around here at all actually, considering this is Norfolk Virginia, lol. I fully expect a lot of water type Pokemon. There is a Goldduck nearby actually, so there's that. But I guess I just don't feel the buzz of "Real life trainer" from this. Maybe some day when VR evolves and they get full body VR machines going with this.
I've just been searching for fun iPhone games on the JP app store instead. The Sims-inspired avatars in pokemon go aren't very appealing to my artsy-ass self, not to mention I'm just indifferent to pokemon these days.
So it seems Go is just a reskin of that company's other game, Ingress, that functions in the exact same way. The coat of paint goes a long way, it seems.

I also got EvoCreo today. Sprites are good and well animated (well, at least battle sprites. Overworld is the simple 1, 2, 1 3 thing). The first impression of the gameplay is good, but also RUNNING SHOES, WHERE ARE YOU! That's the one thing you DON'T need to copy from Pokemon; you copy the good game mechanics, not the bad ones, lol.

Even so, the skin's based on something so iconic across the entire world, so that obviously leaves little to no room for anything original from developers, because it can't beat something based on Pokemon in terms of popularity (a fact that's unfortunately true. I'm sure that's pretty much what advertising/marketing students are being taught these days). It's like when Disney made a Candy Crush/Bejeweled clone skinned with Frozen.
Or like what Angry Birds did to Crush the Castle, or what Apple Music is to Spotify lol. The premise of Ingress is that you're a hacker on some faction, and you have to take over terminals/portals with your own virus from the other factions, which are placed on the GPS map in the same manner. Seems to have been out since at least 2013.

Gotta get the lols out now, since it reminded me of this.
