It's the same model, it wasn't altered at all to look like classic Sonic.

The spikes have the same size, the quill is still the same, and the pupils look black because that's how they look when they're zoomed out. The cell-shading with the spheric highlight was made to remind of classic Sonic's shading. The only thing that I can point out that might be different from the current design is that maybe they could have increased the top spike's size to remind more of it, but Sonic Rush's model had also a bigger top spike IIRC.
In fact it seems like Sonic's sprites are based off a high-poly version of Rush's model and with an effect to have that shading.

Classic Sonic for instance wouldn't have shoe soles, spikes aren't as big, and the top spike is the largest one, and the spikes from the bottom of his head are the smallest ones (not counting his spikes on his torso), and he also has a spheric torso. And even if there actually was a Classic Sonic alternative skin, then that'd be stupid because it'd still be the same game, if it comes out bad or if it comes out good. Although a mode that makes the HUDs, badniks designs, and the character designs change to the original ones would be actually a neat extra, but just a small extra.
Did you compare the two screenshots? Both screens are in practically the same pose, making the differences a lot clearer.

Hell, this one even has one of his spikes IN FRONT of his arm.

Practically the same pose. Look at how glaring the differences are now.

You can even SEE the difference in eye color. The second screen is solid black, the first you can see some sort of greenish around the pupil.

Whether or not it's "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHRUEFSKF AUTHENTIC" classic Sonic, it's obviously a different skinned Sonic that has little details from both incarnations. You can't possibly deny that.

I did not compare the two screenshots, and why do you guys have to take as a bitching, I'm really indifferent towards that, it just really seems like modern Sonic than classic Sonic, specially without the comparison.

Well, anyway, considering that the differences are rather small, it's probably not an alternative skin change. Or the first screenshot's Sonic was a placeholder and the final version of it was changed to look like a midterm between classic and modern, or it's a fake screenshot, specially considering that they're at the exact same pose. It seems official though.
We take it as bitching because you just wrote a lengthy wall of text complaining about something entirely unimportant. It's not the first tome you've done it in regards to this game, either.
I wasn't complaining or bitching, I was explaining why I got turned off by the trailer in a disappointed mood once, but I was never in a bitching or complaining mood, I was merely explaining that it wasn't what I was expecting, but was never disconsidering the possibility of it being very good, in fact I said it very clearly that I was believing that this will be a good or a decent game. If I acted angered in here is that I just get really worked up by this topic because of everyone else shouts at me that OH NO YOU'RE BEING ENTIRELY BUTTHURT BY NOT GETTING EXCITED BY THIS GAME THERE'S NOTHING TO BE UNEXCITED ABOUT THIS GAME BECAUSE ALMOST NOTHING WAS SHOWN YET, YET I CAN POST THAT I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT FOR THE LITTLE THAT HAS BEEN SHOWN.
I, for a non-Sonic fan, think it's good. I've only played the first Sonic games, and I look forward to this game since I can relate to it. About Sonic's design, I can deal with it, because shortening his quills or painting his eyes black will not affect gameplay.
By the way you did here about this right?

All that stuff has me really faithful for this game, and if it somehow turns out awful - I'm never giving slight hope for Sonic again.

I love how the first few comments in this article have so many people complaining about how they thought that Sonic 3 was when the series went "downhill". (I didn't read many comments beyond that, though).

How can a third game in a series really be considered a hill? That's a triangle, or maybe a line if 2 was worse than 1 (I don't know anyone who would say that though. And seriously, I thought Sonic 3 and Knuckles was a pretty awesome game. I also love how someone complains about 3 because of them starting his redesign... I mean, anything after 3 I can understand, but I'm pretty sure what happened DURING 3 was improving graphics to try and outclass competitors. Yes? No?

Um...

This is the same guy that directed Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog and NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams FYI. He is often credited for doing straightforward level designs and overuse of dashpads in the games he's in, with the exception of Sonic 3 because he was just one of the senior level design directors, not the only one. As far as I remember, there were 3 or 4 senior level designers in Sonic 3, including Hirokazu Yasuhara which always was a senior level designer in all classic Genesis Sonic games (and Sonic R).

Still, even on Sonic 3 you can tell some really straightforward level design bits that were probably made by him. Luckily they are very few and far in between the large exploration of the level design, in a way that they're actually somewhat a nice addition instead of a bad one.

Even though it is Iizuka, I still have high hopes that he won't screw up with this. He probably is the oldest member on Sonic Team there (considering the original trio of Sonic Team; Hirokazu Yasuhara, Naoto Oshima and Yuji Naka left) and if he's still there being an important member of Sonic Team, even after doing such horrible games as Shadow the Hedgehog, he still must be really good at something there.
i had the chance to play sonic rush last weekend.

its not a bad game, in fact, it was quite fun to play, and the use of the stylus in the special stages was a nice gimmick. if sonic 4 is going to be inspired somehow by it, i wouldn't be that dissapointed.

the music was completely forgetable though :V.
the only good song in sonic rush is jeh jeh rocket

and that one on that one space level
I thought they were kinda cute tunes. Maybe the nonsense lyrics helped with that.
I guess no one here like the music of Jet Grind Radio or Jet Set Radio future either. Same guy, true story.

(I'm biased I like Hip-hOp funk mashes)
I loved Rush's soundtrack, personally. one of my favorites.

that

means nothing :/

PS: i love grind's soundtrack. and nakaguma's tracks are some of my favorites(sneakman Heart).

but thats because the tracks actually fitted the mood and tempo of each scenario. rush ones are almost all the same thing over and over, this is, a plain beat with added "WAH WAH WAH" vocals on top of it. and the whole game goes with the same formula.

With the music he creates I'm not surprised in how he did it. I digged each vibe as it grabbed me and there's a Blaze Mix for each track slightly different slightly more or less enjoyable. I doubt the DS has the power to give us a musical experience as to what Hideki Nakguma can produce. I mean listen to Oldie but a Goodie. I Doubt that much can go on without fulling the whole cartridge. But I do concede each track is a wah wah wah over it.
