If SEGA is making the music for the game based on the genesis series of sonic games I'm all for it!
It just shows that SEGA is taking every precaution to make the game as good and as enjoyable as possible, unlike the other letdowns they've released recentally.

To be honest, I'm sort of tired of Jun Senoue's rock songs anyway; he uses too much bass guitar. :p
True, that's probably why ZebraHead got involved.
Having a good score is nothing, having a good score when forcing yourself in using limitations takes skills.

Even limiting yourself to sixteen instrument tracks can be challenging when not working with actual instruments.

Confirmed to be the Megaman 9 of Sonic games, as if that wasn't clear enough already.

But the forced nostalgia isn't doing much for me. Modern soundtrack, plz.

Megaman 9 although it didn't have Charge Shot or Slide (which is bullshit) I found it to be a true sequel to the NES games, with very original level design elements and sometimes original level visuals, without being too stuck on Megaman 2, what I was very afraid of. Megaman 9 instead uses a lot of elements from other Megaman games as well.

Project Needlemouse though, it looks like it'll be all about SONIC 1 AND SONIC 2 ARE THE ONLY CLASSICS RIGHT???

Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD are the games that have the atmosphere that the new game needs.

What you mean a story plot?
I'm not sure how I'll like it if it goes the MM9-route of looking like a lost sequel from the past.

honestly I think I'd prefer retro-styled games more if they were done with the same gameplay and a similar engine to the first games (ie, a sidescrolling platformer), yet with HD graphics, kinda like the art this guy does.

of course I'm judging things too soon based on that nine second snippet of music. plus, with all the concept art (of things that have existed in Sonic games for a long time and I'd think wouldn't really need concept art) going around, maybe it will be given a new coat of paint.

...it'd be pretty cool if it goes both ways, like the special edition of Monkey Island...
They already said somewhere that the graphics were going to be 3d. Seeing as its Sega, it'll probably be a great looking game. However BECAUSE its Sega I'm worried about how it will come out with the art style. I'm still gonna hope for the best though.
sega's blog was hammered to death yesterday as they promised prizes for every single comment who landed on several milestone numbers on the relase of the palm tree's concept art.

the original cap was 500, but the last time i cheked it had over 3.5k comments, and they decided to extend the prizes to every 50 comments.
this game is going to suck so bad. you guys just don't understand Sonic at all, these are games about eco terrorism and the evils of transhumanism, not a blue hedgehog okay.

Bah, videogames need MORE juicy slap-bass if you ask me.

And it's not just Jun, all od Sonic Team's soundtrack regulars are great, and get less cred than thay deserve. Everyone focuses on Crush 40 and their successors. =/
All I'm saying is that for a "return to the roots" type game, I'd prefer a soundtrack with different genre types instead of just rock on every level.
Not that that's a bad thing, but stlll.
So what your saying is this game's soundtrack should be more like Sonic Adventure 2's soundtrack then keeping it just rock.

If that's what you are getting at then I am up for that tbh.
As long as the music has no lyrics I'll be happy.
this game is not going to make everyone happy, no game will ever. i think we all realised this ages ago.
