If only Michael Jackson could have worked on the soundtrack...

I see nothing wrong with this.

No there isn't. But again it's not the retro-return that Sega promised. If it's a Sonic Advance/Rush game call it so. Don't label it as a continuation of the MegaDrive classics when it isn't.
If this game is targeted at the old Sonic fans, which I believe it is, why not make Sonic look like the classic Sonic? Move like the classic Sonic, step away from the "MAKE IT FAST" and put some level design back in there.
all they had to do is use redawn versions of the Sonic 3 sprites in HD, keeping it in a spriteful style(not ala SFII HD)
or what the sonic 2 hd team did
the problem with S2HD is that it uses vectors had has WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much detail
it looks way to sterile and clean, and overuses gradients

it doesn't necessarily lookd bad, but I personally prefer what Sonic 4 looks like now than the S2HD graphics.
Though true HD sprites would've been the best way to go.
It would be nice if the game was just sprited
I wouldn't have minded a modern genesis esque game
that too.
thats what i am talking about.
You'd think with the success of MM9 they would have followed that route...
Ah well, I guess Sega just likes saying "We listen to our fans" and then doing that they want anyway.
Ohhhhhh boy. Someone tell me as a fan and in business sense why it would've been better to make sprites?
It would have attracted more nostalgic fans I suppose, while not deterring the newer fans away from it. I suppose.

It feels like it would have fit more.
Man, I can't believe this is actually happening.
It's been over sixteen years since I first picked up a Genesis controller and played Sonic 2 and fell madly in love with that game.

It looks like Sonic 4 may be the revival that old schoolers like me have been waiting for our favorite blue hedgehog for so freaking long...
GOSH DARN IT SEGA!!!
DON'T LET ME DOWN NOW!!!
THIS IS DEFINITELY YOUR LAST CHANCE!!!
This game is geared towards the old Sonic fans. The people who, and in all fairness are quite right, think Sonic has been sucking some major balls with his console games lately. And what do the old fans like? Old things. The NES MM games were the old fan's favourite games - so they made a new one. The MegaDrive Sonic games were the fan's favourites - so they should me a new one.

Sprites look cool. Just look at Critter Crunch, it's worth buying just to SEE it. And it also pretty much guarantees my money, hence the Toki HD remake being brought as soon as it comes out.
The main complaint with the new Rocket Knight game is that is looks rather ass, and people wanted sprites.

Retro fans like retro things. It's simple. If this is retro Sonic, lets make it look like retro Sonic as it'll be those people who this is meant to impress.

But what about the kids who grew up on Polygons?
