I don't know how I forgot Metal Sonic
I hate myself.
But srs. Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles were the best games of the lot
and they didn't have any of these shitty overdetailed characters
the games and characters should be simple
which is why the new ones suck.
Also how is Nack an "and friends" character? Triple Trouble, diiiiick.
I'm probably just being an overly-nostalgic fuck, but whatever. Sizable portions of my childhood were spent playing the original games and the vast majority of changes made in later games can fuck off and remove their collective wangs from my inner child, thx.

I still advocate making friends bosses or just like Tails and Knuckles have different endings and slightly different ways to get places with others.

Just because they crossed out all of the characters other than him doesn't mean that it's just gonna have Sonic as a playable character in it. They could easily introduce some new playable character. I bet Sega will make the new Sonic fans shit themselves by putting Nazo in or something.

That could be quite cool. In Sonic and Knuckles I thought it was pretty dick that Knuckles basically didn't get an ending :E

Being in a game doesn't take away from sonic friend status. By that logic, terrible characters like Chip from Sonic Unleashed should make multiple returns.
history has proven that even the most retarded characters have a somehow valid fanbase that claims for a game of their own.

They're all freaking Sonic Characters. Simply that. Some are good, some are bad. That's all.
Just use the Sonic 3/Knuckles engine with the same characters and new stages and I'll wank to it.
You know I just remembered the Five Man Band formula always works.
The Hero- Sonic
The Lancer- Shadow
The Smart Guy- Tails
The Big Guy- Knuckles
The Chick- Amy
But you know characters don't matter if you set it up right. Look at the Sonic Advanced series, the characters did not talk or show up only if you wanted them too.
I wouldn't mind what characters they put in if they were optional.
I miss when Knuckles was The Lancer. They didn't portray him as so naive.
They could always go the Proto Man in Mega Man 9 route.
DLC, no story, different gameplay.
well its quite evident that this will be quite an experiment to see if people actually buys it. if everything works as planned, it wouldn't be hard to see extra characters on future relases.

A "sonic friend" is anyone who isn't sonic, knuckles, or tails.
Basically, useless "friend" characters who don't need to be in the game.
Personally, I don't think shadow, rouge, or blaze fit as sonic friends, (and rather, count as main characters) and amy is debatable. As for the Chaotix, they don't count as sonic friends if knuckles is with them.
Everyone else is a sonic friend.
That being said, I wouldn't mind a sequel to Knuckles Chaotix.
