At least tell us why you think it's not classic Sonic.

- Shorter quills
- Black eyes
- Slightly less lanky

??????

aside from ear length (hurrrrrr) and hand size, seems like classic Sonic to me. or at least, classic-inspired.
notice the ballshaped head and shading

only classic sonic had that

No, tell us why it's stupid first.

that was quick
apparently its fake anyway
(02-17-2010, 11:42 AM)Francisco Cifuentes Wrote: [ -> ]we already said why. unlike in the 3D games(and also, as the video shows) dashpads could be avoided and weren't as mandatory as they are in 2D games.

the ones in chemical plant zone in sonic 2 are completely optional, they didn't 'force' you to go anywhere.

They could possibly work like the dash panels in Stardust Speedway in Sonic CD. It was either for you or against you... which might help explain why he jumped over them to avoid a sudden burst of speed.

But this is merely a theory, I don't expect to be right.
Why would they sprite a classic sonic and not use sprites in the regular game? That doesn't seem like something Sega would do, if you ask me, hence it being a doctored image.
What are you talking about "sprite?"
The only sprite I have seen so far was that sonic 1sprite on the loading screen

and that was it, I think you're referring to the models Tom
Guys, what the fuck.

It's the same model, it wasn't altered at all to look like classic Sonic.

The spikes have the same size, the quill is still the same, and the pupils look black because that's how they look when they're zoomed out. The cell-shading with the spheric highlight was made to remind of classic Sonic's shading. The only thing that I can point out that might be different from the current design is that maybe they could have increased the top spike's size to remind more of it, but Sonic Rush's model had also a bigger top spike IIRC.
In fact it seems like Sonic's sprites are based off a high-poly version of Rush's model and with an effect to have that shading.

Classic Sonic for instance wouldn't have shoe soles, spikes aren't as big, and the top spike is the largest one, and the spikes from the bottom of his head are the smallest ones (not counting his spikes on his torso), and he also has a spheric torso. And even if there actually was a Classic Sonic alternative skin, then that'd be stupid because it'd still be the same game, if it comes out bad or if it comes out good. Although a mode that makes the HUDs, badniks designs, and the character designs change to the original ones would be actually a neat extra, but just a small extra.
actually, his quills are smaller. compare that image side by side with this http://www.computerandvideogames.com/vie...&id=226860 , his quills are shorter and he seems to be darker (though i assume it's due to being under something)

that was quick

When I first looked at these still frame images I was really tired and thought I was looking at a sprite, which made me say "That's a fake because it's a sprite when clearly Sonic was a 3D model in the leaked footage". Looking at it now when I'm tired, but not AS tired, I can say it can pass as a 3D model. As far as arguments about what's classic and what isn't, I'll pass on that entirely.

Did you compare the two screenshots? Both screens are in practically the same pose, making the differences a lot clearer.

Hell, this one even has one of his spikes IN FRONT of his arm.

http://cdn.medialib.computerandvideogame...226862.jpg
Practically the same pose. Look at how glaring the differences are now.

You can even SEE the difference in eye color. The second screen is solid black, the first you can see some sort of greenish around the pupil.

Whether or not it's "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHRUEFSKF AUTHENTIC" classic Sonic, it's obviously a different skinned Sonic that has little details from both incarnations. You can't possibly deny that.
classic sonic had the soles in his earliest design back when he was literally "mr. needlemouse"
