The VG Resource

Spoilers won't improve page load. It still has to load all the resources that are being hidden. It might load a little faster because it doesn't need to render them initially but the difference wouldn't be significant.

And I am most certainly saying never. For the most part, we are zipping images and MP3s. Neither of these are compressible so we don't really care about compression ratios. The zips are here to make it possible to submit a collection of files and, as such, we really only care about compatibility. All OSes support zip archives out of the box which is why we will never accept any other format for archives.
Hmm...
ok then
In this case, does rendering a youtube video embed take many more resources than loading it? A problem I encounter on MineCraft forums in particular, is people embedding, literally, 20 youtube videos at once. With no spoilers!
If they're in a spoiler, however, no lag other than all of the other crap on Curse's servers.

Just curious
I rarely run into embedded youtube videos here, but just wondering in that case if a spoiler will spare me the typically browser-crashing lag of loading several more than an even remotely reasonable amount of videos at once.

That makes sense
Apparently pngs already compress themselves, anyways (or can, i learned this when researching their format for the flash embedded asset extractor.)
We used to accept .RAR but as Petie said that's not quite as immediately accessible even if it compresses a bit better.
Is there any way to put attachments on PMs?

why not upload it to a file hosting site, like dropbox or even mediafire

The point was if somebody didn't want to make an account, though.

Two questions:
Where did you get that model from?
What happened to Roy's hair?!

1.) ripped it myself
2.) messed up his coloring

Actually if you know your attachment id is, I guess you could use it in PM's
Just upload to mediafire, mega, or any other million hosting sites. Many of them don't even require an account. Can you also please try to not derail the thread, smashball?

Sorry 'bout that. I was kinda tired yesterday. Tongue
Add a tag system for private messages, say a staff member sent a message from Sounds Resource, so the message would be tagged as "The Sounds Resource".

I got really confused yesterday when I went to Models-Resource and saw I had a PM, which took me back to VGResource, so I was already confused from there. After reading, I thought I submitted a sound to Models-Resource, but no, every message is just clumped together in one inbox, which is really messy for a noob like myself.
That's not really possible I'm afraid. We use the built in MyBB inbox system to send out PMs - there is no way of creating multiple boxes or a "tag" system for messages. The PM notification on the main sites isn't really there specifically for messages referring to submissions anyway, it include personal communications with other members too.

This is all correct but, to elaborate a tiny bit, there are two things that need to be understood. First, we can't make changes to the core forum software so suggestions regarding additions or changes to any aspect of the forum are impossible from the get-go.

Second, and more specifically to this case, you have a single account to log into all sites. That box at the top of each of the main sites is there as a quick reference for your account as a whole. It does show some site-specific info (like pending sheet count) but unread PMs are network-wide and just meant as a quick way to let you know you have messages waiting.

What I can do, however, is tag the subject line of auto-generated PMs with the site that sent them. You won't be able to auto-filter or manually tag things but it should at least make it a little more clear where the message came from. The subject already contains a site-specific word like sheet model but if anyone thinks this additional reminder would help, it would be trivial to include.

Yes please! This would be so insanely helpful.
