Sounds like a nice idea, A.J. Nitro. And it would also help with The Textures/Sounds Resource, too, with their RARs/ZIPs. We're already working on a similar feature for The Models Resource, so it should technically be possible to implement on the other sites.
I also have to ask... if there were to be a video game artwork section, would wallpapers and such be acceptable?

The wallpapers I have of some characters from a game I rip from are some of the highest-quality art of them I've found from the official Japanese website.

All the wallpapers and other art I have are anime-style, BTW.
Koopaul posting about Customs Section getting icons like I did here:

And Here:

Because that's my one suggestion that never gets addressed.

Yeah I've been nagging about it for a long time.
It's probably just that no one's found the time to make the icons themselves. I'm sure if you went ahead and made some, they'd be put right up there.

kind of like how it's not required to make icons for sprite sheets you submit, but if you don't, they don't get put online quite as fast Wink

We even did a couple icons for those sessions long time ago in a separated topic. Last year, I believe. Koopaul and myself did many of them, and some other people contributed too
I still got the icons I did uploaded

EDIT: Because I'm a nice person, I did the search for ya

I personally prefer the Bomberman icon that Solink made over Koopaul's (sorry Koop). Smile
Sure, it doesn't matter to me, as long as they get icons. They're right there ready to be added on, and I'm pretty damn sure it isn't that hard to do. I think it has to do with someone not giving a shit for the past two years!
Actually it's to do with our coder, sephy, is at uni working on qualifications to have a life. I won't mess with his code because I will break it, which I think is worse than not having icons.

We are working a whole new system to add many new features that are not possible at the moment. Because we give a shit.

Nice assumption Koopaul, makes you look like a really cool guy.
I'm really sorry. I get too bent out of shape about that. Its just I see new game icons get added all the time so I assumed the same could be done for the Customs section.

Again I'm sorry.

The reason I acted like a jackass is because back in the past Customs were the last things re-uploaded to the new site, customs weren't considered important enough. This always got me upset and it left me bitter.
Especially when sheets like these are considered a bigger priority than the ones people worked really hard on.

So yeah that's just my bitterness talking and I'm sorry.
Perhaps it's already time to give the PS2 it's own section?
Since the submissions aren't system labeled, it's getting more and more difficult to tell the PS1 and PS2 games apart for the ones not familiar with the PSX game library.
We're going to do a bit of splitting and stuff when we update our system.
It would also be a good idea to ask the contributors to include on their sheets the name of the ripped game and the system it belonged to.

No, unless the wallpapers come from the game they wouldn't be allowed.

Honestly that is up to the contributor themselves, it is kinda with having them label on what is what in the sheet, they don't have to regardless of how helpful it might be.

From the game...? I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean like drawings they put in the game like in Mega Man 8's credits? I thought the point in this section was going to be that you'd submit official artwork for the games like for characters as you can find on the net, that's why I was so excited about it... now I'm not so sure... Sad

I'm not sure either but I have a guess. If they are from the game as in drawings that appear in menus and unlockables such as concept art, it is acceptable in the tSR section. If the wallpapers or art are on the game disc (or in case of a downloadable game, right in the game folder) like in the case of Sonic Jam, they aren't used in the game but they are there to be used, then I suppose it is acceptable but never tried to do that to find out. If they are on the official website, then it is not acceptable since they are not directly off the game.

As for having a section dedicated to Video Game Art, it is a nice idea but not sure how it would fit on tVGR (apart from Models and obviously the blog, all the other sections have stuff directly from the game whether it is art or sound). Also it sounds like a grey area, not as much as music though (due to the fact some games used licensed music and the music industry is really picky about uploading music). Another site that does that is actually a good idea, after all there is one for Sonic games if it is still around and seeing anything worth perserving is a good thing considering that this is the Internet and things can disappear with a click of your fingers.
