Exactly; That would make sense.

Theres seriously no point to spriting if theres nobody out there to use the sprites. Making a bunch of custom sprites is cool and all, but who benefits from it if theres no real demand for them?

The point is to make a request and determine how much demand there is for whatever the poster is requesting. As a flash and a game developer, I can honestly say it's a bitch trying to network and organize a project, and it's rather foolish to basically say "We're making sprites... for no particular reason other than our own circlejerking" (sorry about how crude that comes off <_<).

Yeah sometimes its fun to piece together a spritesheet. But what's the point if nobody needs it or requests it?
People generally use them because they see them. In a lot of cases, people have no clue what they want until they see it.
When I was growing up, I didn't even dream of downloading music. Now I need it, when before, I didn't even know about it, thus no demand. Are you getting my point?

People use the sheets we provide in hundreds of ways, most of the time offline in school projects.

If they needed something, they'd pull their finger out of their ass and learn how to do it themselves.

I think this should be tSR slogan haha.

But yeah I think its a bit of both, really showing off our skill, and I take it people use them, maybe not all the sprites everyone makes, but I guess even for completeness, of going hey I made this which no one else has.
How about a comment thing and a hit counter for the sheets? I also thought of this but I'm not sure if it can be done but a member section on the tsr site for like the comments but when you join you're added to the forums.
I was considering adding a comments part, but a hit counter for sheets wouldn't work with our current set up, and adding it would basically break the site. It's hard to explain, but it would.
Something else we could add to the search feature. How about being able to search the sheet creator's sheets?
That would be the same as tagging every sheet with a series tag, it'd just be too much work for an outcome.
Would it be possible to add a button to old updates to show them with icons (one button per update, one-time effect)?
Not really needed, but I think it would nice, for example if someone missed an update - I prefer looking trough icons, they tell me more about the sprites than a name of something I don't know.

I know what you mean about the counter breaking the site.
How about some sort of Acievements or awards things for the forums, You know, Over xxx Rips, Good Customer, Good Helper, that sort of thing.
You can get some pretty cool MyBB plugins for that sort of thing.

Actually, the sheets aren't cached at all. So it would work.
I'm going to show you my idea instead of saying it.

And then link it to this topic or something like that.
Here's an idea that may have been mentioned already:

Combine your 32X/Mega CD/MegaDrive online stuffs with the MegaDrive page. It doesn't make much sense to separate them into "Other Systems", especially considering you'll never have enough games to have a massive 32X section.

After all, you've combined the PS1 and PS2 sections together.

You've also probably got more than enough sheets for a Master System/Game Gear category.

I agree with you, Black Squirrel.
Custom Sprites should be viewable two ways.
Series, or Spriter.
