None I'm aware of, I've always had to take a second shot with another palette (that either had all of colors not black or had the black a different color) and use the magic wand. Annoying but gets the job done.

That's the way I've always had to do it.
Yes, but there are some ancient games that don't have many palletes to chose.
Define 'ancient.'
Pre-1985
Has someone an idea what to do with .pak-files?
Depends on the pak file itself - send it over and I'll take a look Smile

Also, what game is it?
The game is called "The Genius of Sappheiros" and is a Touhou doujin game. It comes with an English translation.

The file size of img.pak is 146 MB and since the other ones are named sound.pak, music.pak and so on, I'm really sure it only contains the graphics of the game.

I'm currently hosting it on min.us, you will get the link per PM.
Sorry dude, I'm not able to find anything for it... I thought it might be using standard zlib but it wasn't.

Sad
That's a pity, but as far as I can currently see, it is possible to to extract the file (for the English patch). I'll try to get some more infos from the patchers.

Anyway, I found something else interesting:

Owlboy, an Xbox Live game and also available for PC. Is it possible to rip from it?

The sprite format is .xnb, I've uploaded a few files for you:

(Never heard of that format, though)
*.xnb is the XNA MS Game format, it can be done (how else do you think I ripped Cthulhu Saves the World), but it requires a decent 3d card. I used XNB Exporter but I think I had to have other stuff installed first (I think you need Microsoft XNA Framework for it to extract right). At the end of it all, I had to do it on my Mom's computer because I have an outdated video card.
You could always email the guys who made it, since they actually were really cool with the idea of our site last time I checked.
So I'm trying to rip from a Wii game, and (what I think to be) the main sprite file is a .pac format. Does anyone know of some steps I can take to unpacking the file? If needed I can edit this post with the file. Any help is appreciated. Smile If it makes a difference, the file size is quite large (201 MB)
What game is it?
Heavenly Guardian
