It does have layer support but as far as I know, only in the debug release, which you have to pay for.
Aw, man
It would make ripping sprites so easier ç_ç
Yeah that's something I'll like too Cry
I noticed in the general posts of this thread you guys talk about many useful sprite ripping techniques, but few about the cleaning and assembling part. And even more aggravating: people using the MS-Paint as a excuse to make a poor job in the other topics.
Some time ago I decided to search for free image editing programs for my friends, and I decided to dig up this information and share with you guys. This programs usually got only three main goals: be user-friendly, to be a light/small program and to have it's share of more features than MS-Paint.

GIMP is maybe the most famous of the bush: originally for Linux, got many fans around the world. It's fairly simple to learn how to use. There is a patch to make it looks more like Photoshop (no 'loose' windows anymore). You can also download the portable version with only most important features and don't needs installation. You can easily copy this later to your flashdrive and use it in any computer you like.

Next one is Brush Stokes. The site says you can make animated gifs with it, and it's fairly small. It don't have the use of layers, but if you don't care about it and just want a slightly better program than MS-Paint, this one can be a candidate.

mtPaint got a somewhat crude interface, but many interesting features for sprites. Pixel grid for guidance at high levels of zoom, 12 image clipboard, up to 1000 undo steps, can create animated gifs and handles transparency . The online documentation is helpful too.

Then we get Paint.Net. It got a pretty intuitive hud featuring tabbed document interface with small thumbnail for each tab. It got everything than it's paid counterparts got: filters, layers, unlimited undos, Bezier curves, gradient tools, editing selections, magic wand, clone stamp... GIMP and this one are the most complete of all.

And for the last...At first glance, when you see Kolour Paint is like looking at MS-Paint. But it got up to 500 levels of Undo/Redo, transparency and some simple filters. The only drawback is it's not avaliable for Win/Mac, only Linux :/

I hope you guys find my tips useful and forgive my poor English ;p
Thanks for the tips, Ulty. Big Grin
Im trying to rip some more Vectorman sprites on the vista but im not real sure if a gens emulator will work on that type even though i do have xp and it works great is just that the gens freezes the vista which makes the screen smaller so in order to fix promblem i had to shut down the vista but on my xp the prt screen dosent cooperate with the computer so im stuck in the middle. I bringing a pack of more Vectorman sprite sheets to tSR very soon. So far I have nearly 20% complete of the pack there will be bout 5 or 10 sprite sheets in 1 pack. So i will notify when the pack is avaliable soon.g

I do my ripping programmatically. You could say it's quite similar to the Animget Method, only I'm dealing directly on the emulators level. Therefore, I know the location of ever sprite on screen and I can retrieve the graphics for them individually (as seen above, each sprite is surrounded by a red box). I then take this one step further, filter out all the unused ones and combine the rest based on the information provided (as seen above, indicated by the green squares).

I then dump those sprites I've "combined" into individual directories for each frame to which after a few more steps I then end up with something like this.

No need to worry about layers. No need to worry about getting individual sprites that happen to overlap with others. No need to worry about ripping sprites that use the same color as the background and also, for the most part, less cleaning up to do afterwards.
Every game I seem to open with the No$GBA doesn't work.
That's probably because you're not using the right kind of emulation battery. Chack the Emulation Options, and dick around with the settings there. While you're at it, make sure the colour setting is on VGA Poppy Bright to give the correct colours.
Look up eNDryptS or something like that
Annoying NO$GBA! I was just trying to rip a sprite from a game, but it errored! I`m sure it SHOULD be able to work, as the game has ripped sprites of on the normal website of SR...
Anyone know were to find a good place to get the Megaman zero series?
All I can find are ROMS.... is that the only way they are available?

Also I'm haveing some trouble ripping from a copy of A.v.P. (Winkawaks)..... that's probably a ROM to isn't it?
Help in any way would be much apreciated.
As far I know, the Megaman Zero series are exclusive for the GBA. So, yeah, basically
How do I rip sprites from Valkyrie Fight Tag?
Hmm.... Is there an alternative on how to rip sprites from DS games? I have no way to get started due to the lack of information about ripping them properly. I have Animget, but it's gonna be extremely hard getting all of those frames properly.
