That new Soldier weapon sounds pretty cool. I might craft one...

Found a Big Country the other day. That would be the second time that I've had two hats in a row drop for the same class (first two hats were the panama and trophy belt, last two were safe'n'sound and big country)

Wierd.

I hate the new Soldier weapons.
So.
okay so the problem with the new weapons

polygons

polygons everywhere

this is probably the worst possible inclusion by the TF2 team
not because it breaksthe art style or because it's yet another soldier pack or other trivial things like that

these things are eating computers alive

note how each weapon has close to 11,000 polygons (the Primary actually goes above this) whereas the Soldier model itself has only 8000.
And each of the projectiles from the weapons hits 4000 polygons.

This isn't the only problem, though; the core of it all is that there's no LODs for any of these new inclusions.

So, let's think about this: the crafting recipe's incredibly low compared to the Uber items (reclaimed + black box, right?). This means a LOT of people are going to have it. And when a lot of people have a new weapon, they're all going to use it. And now you're getting about six to ten soldiers in a single game with 11,000-polygon weapons firing off 4000 polygon projectiles. And the computer has to draw it all, since there's nothing to compensate the heavy polygon count.

Which really blows, since this is a legitimately serious problem :C
on that note, please Valve don't fix the following:

Just played a game where more than half the other team were soldiers using this basically-insta-kill.
Lagged like a bitch.

Well, it'll pass.
Valve gonna valve, as usual.
That's what happens when you have a movie-model-maker pop into video games, I guess.
The weapon does not deal critical hits even while crit boosted.
The Cow Mangler 5000 does not have a crit or mini-crit glow.
Taunting while charging a shot will fire the charged projectile during the taunt animation.
If a Soldier begins charging a shot and the round ends with him put into a humiliation pose, a charged rocket will still be fired.
If the Soldier is stunned by a Sandman ball while charging, the shot will fire.
Deactivating Sentries during humiliation will cause them to reactivate and shoot the winning team.
Upon destroying an Engineer's building, the kill icon will still include a stick figure's body and skeleton.
The Soldier's right arm has a tendency to flicker during the reload animation.
Afterburn kills will be credited to whichever weapon slot he is currently holding.
After setting someone on fire and then switching to the Half-Zatoichi, if they die, the weapon will be bloodied but the Soldier remains honorbound.
Causing an enemy spy to feign death with the Mangler will sometimes create 2 corpses: one a ragdoll corpse and the other a vaporized corpse.
Several of the Pyro achievements, such as "Controlled Burn," can be earned using the afterburn of the charged blast.
Attempting to rocket jump with a charged shot will set the user on fire, awarding the "Pilot Light" achievement.
If the user is hurt by an enemy who is killed by a charged blast that also sets you on fire, if the afterburn kills you, the player that dealt damage will show the kill icon that they "finished them off" with the Cow Mangler's Kill Icon.

Ohoho? Do I hear something fun to do?
shitte got patched, weapon was nerfed.
oh they actually update stuff?

i thought they were adding hats

ps i suck at this game
COW MANGLER, aka. the Sandman 2011
the reload time got reduced

5%.

its still broken.
Gonna be completely honest here and say I have no problem with the new items, they're fun to use and not really that overpowered; they're both pretty easy to dodge. I also love the Righteous Bison, so fun to watch people disintegrate.
I do think 11000 polys is a tad too much for just a weapon. I mean, couldn't they have, like, trimmed it down? Add the high-quality models for Garry's Mod or something, or perhaps for really close close-ups?

It definitely needs some LoD models for it.
