I've got this idea for a Team Fortress 2 game mode which could possibly be fun, although very out of character. Basically it's called "Ballgame". The exact mechanics are more complex, but the essence is simple.

Basically, you have a "ball" somewhere in the center. This could be anything, from an actual ball to a bomb or an explosive device or whatever lethal stuff it can be. The goal is to get the "ball" in the opponent's goal. While holding the "ball", you go into third person mode, meaning you can't attack unless you shoot / throw the "ball". Otherwise you can just attack your opponent. Perhaps as an added option, you can disable killing opponents who don't have the ball, for example in open maps (like football fields) or maps with few places to take cover.

The "ball" can have different properties, like the appearance, weight and other stuff, but also the way it should be "controlled". First, you have the regular control method, meaning you just hold the "ball" in your hand. The second, dribble, is when the "ball" isn't in your hands. This also means you can target the "ball" itself instead of the person holding the "ball", so that you can shoot it away without harming the person. This comes in at least two variants, basketball and soccer / football. You also have the setting which only allows you to move towards the opponent's goal, so that you have the American football rules.

Yeah, in hindsight, not so great idea.
That's literally the ball mode from Unreal Tournament 2004, hth

The Charity Update. Every 25 people who donate will result in one person destroying their wrench (up to 4 wrenches.) The donations are sent to a charity to help hospitalized children.
i cant have fun with a wrangler if i dont get it first
Woohoo! People donating money for the destruction of virtually nonexistent, in game items!

Yeah, couldn't they just donate the money anyways? Why does it take the destruction of wrenches?
