Unrelated to the topic but lol at sonic fan(g)s complaning about playing as only sonic. That automatically makes it a good game. Thats as retarded as street fighter fans complaining to only play as ryu like street fighter 1.

Actually, that's not entirely true. They might be right from a certain standpoint.
It's pointless to play as a character in a game that's incapable of adding anything 'new' to the gameplay.
Characters like Shadow we're there specifically for incredibly superficial story reasons, and never added anything interesting to the mechanics.

This post however is fucking stupid. An inclusion or removal of a named character has an incredibly small effect of quality compared to, I dunno, programming quality. 2006 wasn't bad because Shadow and Silver featured. You could play only the Sonic story and the game would be bad all on it's own. Also: Sonic Spinball, Sonic Labrynth, Sonic 3D Blast (music notwithstanding) etc.

and 3d blast was decent even though i never got past the second boss because i'd always get bored (except for the music)

I honestly don't get what you are saying. Are you suggesting that I think that it is a credible argument? That only playing as sonic ups the quality of the game?

What I was saying is that the sonic fanbase complains about so much little shit (I want only sonic. I want sonic to look like he did in the old days. Why does Robotnik called Eggman? Why can sonic talk?) that the real problems are never addressed. The fan base bitches about so many aesthetics that when they finally get what they want, there is another, un-gameplay related problem.

Sega has been releasing rushed out, shitty, short, terribly tested, glitch filled games, but that is not what the sonic fans complain about most the time. It's always someone outside of the fanbase that has to point out the real problems. That is why when Sega says that they are listening to the fanbase, it scares me a little.

Sonic RPG didn't feature only Sonic, so that wouldn't be useful in the point I was making. Spinball was novel, but pretty dumb, and I didn't enjoy it.
