Still not as strong as fucking badass Magikarp
Koh, to answer your overraction about the Torchik coming with a Mega Stone or whatever it is that evolves him, consider this: there is a limited number of MANY items one can get in the Pokemon games. Assuming the stones are a held item that is required to activate the Mega Evolutions, there is likely a limited number of these stones in the game, probably much fewer than the full party size of six. That is probably why they advertised that PARTICULAR stone is onlyable to be gotten that way, but it is still likely one of several.

If that isn't the case, I'd be very surprised.
Are you all serious?
Personally I think the Mega Stones are an AMAZING idea. It can be used to power up really shitty pokemon into proper stats. Im not talking about powering up already High/Good stated pokemon like Abomasnow, Gabite or any of the good dragon type, I mean things like Bibarel/Spiritomb/Pinsir.
Theses shitty stat pokemon are forgotten when it comes to actual trainer battles. They aren't your first pick.
Making them actually stronger and able to hold up with the competition is something I immensily look forward to. Them revisiting designs making them more badass is fucking great. It also gives a chance to pokemon like Machamp who used to be powerhouses a chance to get back up again aghainst pokemon like Mienshao. I see Megas as more of a chance for the older pokemon to get into the competition again!
I agree completely, but I really do hope that's the case.
I'm ECSTATIC to see Mawile and Ampharos up there. . .but the other 4 are overpowered enough without the stones.
Mewtwo I'll let slide because I've already gotten used to the form and maybe it'll be the only legendary, but Lucario was already really strong!

I do see great potential in this, I just hope it's to boost weaker pokemon like Mawile rather than make Lucario impossible.

Again, we'll have to see!

(also random sidenote: I have a feeling Spiritomb has bad stats because it has no type weaknesses. That evens it out for me at least Smug)
Assuming they pick those Pokemon to work with mega stones. If Pokemon like pinsir, tropius, sableye, etc do get mega stone compatibility, then that would be an excellent use for them. Although with lucario, blaziken, and mew two getting megaevos, I feel like it won't be exactly that. (I'm hoping for a MegaShuckle)

EDIT: also, as far as the mega stones go, it sounds like they act like any other stone (fire, thunder, leaf, etc) and there is also a held item required for them to mega evolve (think rhyperior, electivire)

Edit2: Nevermind, hadn't watched the video, maybe it will act as an x attack in the sense that it can only work in-battle. Kinda hoping it acts just as any other stone, but I guess we'll see.
I don't know. So far it seems like they are just picking random Pokemon. If anything it should be things like Raticate or Butterfree that should get Mega Evos.

Why do you keep using the word "overreaction?" There's zero emotion behind my text when it comes to revelation; just an analysis of what the information says is happening so far. "Can't be gotten during normal gameplay" doesn't sound like "You could just spam whatever will be the equivalent of the Battle Frontier for Battle Points, which after getting a ridiculous amount, could let you trade for Mega Stones," or "Cynthia, who probably appears one more time in these games, will give you a free Garchomp Mega Stone upon defeat," or anything like that. It sounds like it'll be completely impossible to get in-game when they present it that way. I hope it isn't, and there IS some in-game way to get at least one of them, so they aren't all stuck in events that will inevitably end. Otherwise, it'd be ridiculous.
It might just be a gimmick used for special situations. Who knows at this point. I still think it sounds pretty silly, but we'll see.
New Megamon was revealed

Rather clever. The mom doesn't evolve, the baby does.

Also, it was revealed that each team can only have one mega evolution per battle, so basically if you try to rely on a megalution to win a batter, and your opponent 1 shots your megamon, you may be screwed.
