I like the female protag, and um
...
no, I guess that's kind of it so far.
I hope that the one that you ride doesnt have to take up a space in your party, or else that there are other pokemon that you can ride instead, because I dont like the idea of needing him in my party in order to get around fast, it's already tough having a good team while keeping a flying pokemon and a surfing/diving/waterfall climbing pokemon, and also one with strength.

Roller skates were confirmed in the first trailer.

Anyway as for the new Pokémon, the rideable Pokémon looks cool, but I wouldn't use it. The bird pokémon looks ok, like most bird pokémon. The panda looks cute, heh, I hope it evolves into cool stuff. Now for the electric thing...I don't know why I'm loving it. It looks like nothing and unnatural, but I'm loving that expression so much. Maybe it's man-made, that's why I'm teorizing.

Now for the trainers, they look great. Female trainer is indeed better, but male trainer is pretty likeable for me, likeable enough for me to like to use it as my avatar in-game (Unlike Nate from Black 2)
Far as the trainers go almost all of the new male trainers almost look the damn same since diamond and pearl (Except Black 2 and White 2, that one looked somewhat original despite how goofy he looked)

In other words they've been way too inspired by Red or Gold.

It's like it's the female trainers that get more attention. It's kind of sad but game freak hasn't put in enough effort to make the male trainers one bi likable in design.

New pokemon opinions:
The panda is awesome
the goat bull thing you can ride is dope
The bird doesn't feel like a pokemon tbh.
I don't know what the fuck that yellow thing is actually. It looks alright though.
Well I've never felt more "meh" about new Pokemon before. Really I don't hate these Pokemon, nor do I like them... They are just kind of boring.
The design of the panda and bird makes it seem like GameFreak is trying to go back to the simpler Gen I-style designs. These new artists are probably trying too hard to make First Gen Sugimori-style Pokemon.
Hm. I don't know. There's a difference between simple and generic. I'll admit though that the rat and bird Pokemon of the first Gen were VERY generic.

Also doesn't that panda look kind of familiar? I can't seem to remember, but there's some cartoon or anime that has a panda that looks very similar.

except the majority of these fit the aesthetic of world they live in
where as in the newer gens the environments and pokemon distribution are getting more realistic relative to the our world (and it's obvious why it would start to feel more realistic, because the technology is getting better) .

when I talk about the nature of the pokemon world I'm talking about cohesion and contrivance, with pokemon that fit the general aesthetic of there region creating a cohesive world, and the pokemon like pandark that you can see the designers hand in, takeing away from the immersion of the universe in which the game takes place.

that post actually contains some of the pokemon that work the best in there game of origin, such as mr mime, jynx and the hitmons. so save your collage because my point is a little more complex than "it doesn't look like an animal"

blaziken is pretty terrible though

We've seen 10 (11 counting Newtwo) single gen 6 Pokemon so far out of probably over 100, and only bits and pieces of the region. I think it's far too early to judge whether this gen's lineup is "cohesive" or not.

Personally I'm liking the lizard a lot. The panda is pretty cool too. I like that we finally got a goat but I feel like grasstype was kind of a copout with ungulates nowadays. Not a fan of the robin but I generally don't like the basic birds.

I have hopes for Gen 6, looking decent so far.
Tellis' post reminds me of how distinctive Pokemon can get. Look at how unique they are! They really stand out. The panda is just a generic cartoon panda.

To be fair to the panda, about half of Gen 1 was "generic cartoon animal."

okay maybe I did jump the gun by bringing up generation as a whole, but on an individual level the panda still lacks unity with the existing pokemon. As I mentioned before, there contrivance is really why it fails to me. The concept seems so transparent, and lazy. It also lacks the same subtlety in it's design that the more classic pokemon have.

randomly maybe he isn't even a panda
I actually think he might be a koala bear
Blaziken is a pretty shit design, I'll agree.

As for these new ones? I actually don't mind them. I don't quite like some of the decisions (like lines on the lizard-puppy's head), but they aren't as awful as a lot of other things we've been given/have seen so far.

Maybe in the early parts of the game like with Ratatta or Pidgey. But once you get to things like Vulpix or Poliwhirl you start seeing the animal designs getting a lot more charming.
