There are some small tweaks that could really push the expectations of the series.

-Fully customizable characters. Come on.
-Choices that lead to getting different Pokemon/being aligned with different characters/choosing a Pokemon over helping an NPC, etc.
-They need to make the world accessible from the get-go and have Gym Leaders scale with your levels. Want to fight the Normal Gym Leader at level 10? He's got a Lillipup and a Vigoroth. Wanna fight him at 60? He's got a Blissey, a Snorlax, a Slaking, a Staraptor, and a Girafarig.
-Make it possible to get the other two starters at some point in the game, like Yellow did.
-Don't make Gym Leaders so uniform. Throw in some surprises. Sweeping a water gym with a grass type is boring. Give them an Ice or a Fire Pokemon out of nowhere.
-NPCs that MATTER. As-is, the Gym Leaders are kind of bland and don't add much to the story. Cynthia was fairly interesting, but...
-Maybe have a party. Team up with other trainers and make them more interesting. Give yourself the ability to trade with them. Want their Pikachu? Give them a Growlithe. Later you can see how they've decided to train that Growlithe. Or hell, maybe they traded it to another NPC and you can find it on someone else. It'll give you a sense of accomplishment.
-More ways to beat the game than just defeating the Elite Four. We've heard that some people decide to go into Breeding or Beauty Contests or Movie Making with their Pokemon. Why not give us the option to follow those paths and have a story play out through them?
The character customization in DQ9 was pretty good. Maybe have something where you buy accesories/clothing. Dq9 also allowed you to do adventures with your friends. I could see the possiblity of you and a friend linking up a 3DS to play.
You could still do the story mode but at the same time your friend is also in the game with you. Maybe the bottom screen notifies your when they want to battle or their accomplishments.
If you decided to fight a gym leader or like the villian and both showed up at the same time, you'd end up having a double battle. If they got way ahead of you and lets say beat the elite four when you caught up they would be the champion(and you'd fight whatever team they won with).

Only problem with that is if they beat the evil pokemon organization without you, how could you refight them...

-For gyms you could base them off location the pokemon are encountered. Like in fire red you could search pokes based on places found like city, mountain, sea, forest etc...
-Or give the leaders pokemon that are a different type but can learn their affliated type moves.
So like a fire gym leader could have Rhydon because it can learn flamethrower
I hate everything but the robin

spidna was a better panda

but I didnt like spidnas bunny ears

gen 3 has best designs imo (besides blaziken)
Spinda was more of a play on words. A "Red Panda" is more like a raccoon thing.

I think the bird's design is really badass.
On the most recent Pokemon Smash, they revealed that Sylveon is weak to poison but resistant towards ice from what I've been hearing. Either Sylveon is the first duel type eeveelution, or we are going to have a new type.

Also, it seems that the new pokedex will be split into 3 modes or something like that. Central, Coastal, and Mountain modes. I'm guessing it's to make searching through it easier or something.
That is an impossible combination for existing types, grass is weak to both poison and ice, and nothing else is weak to poison, so any grass/X combo would not resist ice, therefore, it looks like it is indeed a new type, unfortunately.
I don't see how adding a new type is unfortunate. So they will have to change a few things around here and there, it's not a big deal.

There's no dual-type combination that can result in those weaknesses/resistances.

So, we have 3 possibilities:
1) They've edited the type chart (Steel-Types are now weak to Poison?)
2) They've given Sylveon an ability they have yet to reveal.
3) We've got a new-Type, as you've said.
If I'm not mistaken, Poison, up until now, has only been effective against grass typed (and a number of grass types are already part poison), so I'm hoping this new type thing is real since it will not only open new possibilities in the game, but it'll make poison types a bit more useful hopefully.
especially since there are several cool poison types like Muk, Seviper, Arbok, etc. so I'd like to actually have them be strong against something.

But don't you guys know typing isn't everything? You can still OHKO mons without having a type advantage. That's not to say they shouldn't open up Poison's wheel, but it's to say it really wouldn't change much.
I don't get your point. You may as well be saying that theres no point in weaknesses in general since you could just over level yourself and one shot opponents if I'm understanding you correctly. Having the option to use super effective attacks that can take out a tough enemy in 1 hit versus 3 can make all the difference in a battle, and up until now, poison types didn't really matter in that since the only thing they were effective against was grass types who already have a ton of other more common weaknesses anyways.
I hope they do the best thing that they could do for the poison type and make toxic exclusive to poison type pokemon (and maybe a select few others).
Best they could do would be to remove the TM. You'd still be able to get pokemon with Toxic via trading from old games, but at least it would remove it from the 6th gen and up (outside of past game trading).
I wouldn't mind a new type, but what ever the type is they should go back and add to any other pokemon(that may fit the category).

Poison and flying type are just bad types atm, toxic makes the poison type and flying type is just bad all around. I could see them nerfing moves like earthquake or stone edge to make them more usable.
