Hope that mindfuck was gentle enough.

if by "actually good" you mean "started-off-good-then-reclined-rapidly"

hey, want a bigger mindfuck?

dimps also developed sonic pocket adventure

an actually great sonic game, i might add.

Take Sonic BGE for example, it has most (if not all) of the abilities sonic can use in Sonic Generations. You can boost, quick step, rail jump and wall jump. The graphics aren't that bad either (even though it's no where NEAR the graphic quality of even Sonic '06). Most of the enemies present in sonic generations are in it. I had more fun playing Sonic BGE than playing Sonic Generations because you could actually port your own stages into it. This is what saddens me.

Bear in mind that SEGA etc. already made those graphics. Fans usually use rips from other Sonic games, with a custom and edit here and there.
What I meant was that some sonic fan games can sometimes compete with the original games due to them being really fun. I myself, wouldn't compare the fan games with the originals in terms of graphics.

Allow me to interject for a moment and say that yes, the physics are indeed fixed for Episode 2. I've found this through my "research" on the subject. There's no more stopping in the air after letting go of the button and the roll is actually useful again.

Sonic Generations modding.
Yes, yes, yes... Sonic generations modding, I've heard of it a thousand times before Blank. The thing is that I'm not comparing to Sonic generations in specific, and I never said that a sonic fan game is better than Sonic generations. I'm comparing to Sonic games in general and comparing with a VERY few fan games out there. By the way, S4Ep2 will be using a variant of the Hedgehog Engine, which is cool. :p

sonic advance was great oh my god it was 90% reason to own a GBA for me
Sonic Advance 3 really rustled my jimmies for a number of reasons.

The first two games were alright, though.
I thought Sonic Advance 3 was alright, but I liked Sonic advance 2 because of the fact that you were only using one character. Sonic advance, on the other hand didn't really give me that sense of speed.
I thought Sonic Advance 3 was horrible, just seeing the 3rd stage in itself bored me because of the level design.
I liked Advance 3 the better out of all 3. I don't know, the partner system was fun, the levels and the music were great too. But I don't dislike the others either, they're great.
Sonic was never fun because of the speed, it was fun because of intelligent level design.

Fucking damn all you speedbabies.
It's all 3 aspects actually: physics, which are then complimented by level design, and speed which is obtained by a combination of both.
You can't have a sonic game without speed. Then it would be like mario, exept now you're a blue hedgehog.

... who collects rings; breaks monitors to get rings, shields, etc.; can jump straight through enemies to kill them; has a bigger focus on momentum...

oh hey wait, it's not really mario at all! sonic without speed is sonic 1 minus green hill zone and star light zone.
