As iceman over here demonstrated, imo forms an argument based on arbitrary opinions and things that are entirely subjective. Trying to judge the value of something based on only subjective criteria is a fool's game. It doesn't carry any weight. You ought to be able to say some objective "truths." What those objective truths are isn't a black and white issue, but it at least gives something to base your arguments on that can actually make sense beyond personal feelings.

Arguments in essays and arguments in conversation have the same sort of standards for being convincing. Not because the teacher said so, but because they work. Saying something is perfect is a bit of a stretch, whether you put "imo" after it or not. I guess saying it's your opinion makes it sound less like an exaggeration, but what good does it do for your argument? It's your opinion, not ours. Why does your opinion get to decide what the truth is on its own, but ours count for nothing? It's fine to have the opinion, but if you can't make an argument past "imo" and "I feel this way," then you're not really going to convince anyone. You have to give some support.

I don't really get that either. I've skipped on quite a few sonic games lately, and two of the ones I have (sonic 2k6, sonic unleashed) were just from not having anything else to get during the holidays. I was going to skip on sonic 2k6, but my brother got it for me not knowing that it was horrible. I don't regret it though. Sonic 2k6 was quite the experience.

Anyway, maybe they just hold on to some sort of hope for their childhood series, or something...

So is the other side's goggles coated in sugar with a side of SEGA's ass pressed upon their lips, because everything I stated in my previous posts were definately logical reasons for the hate
It is, that's true. To tell you the truth, like Viper said, Sega hasn't really listened to the public, idk why they're still sticking with terrible physics for 2D (I didn't play Episode 2 yet, but I hope it's better), as much as I liked Generations. The lack of playable characters is confusing too, since they kinda got that down pretty well on the Advance series.

I guess I'm okay with overlooking flaws and enjoying the game, but yeah, they're there, I can't argue against that, nor should I defend my view of overlooking them.
okay, you guys can talk about physics and controls all you want, but that's still not addressing the real issue with sonic today:

what the fuck happened to mighty the armadillo
Did y'all know Dimps developed the actually good Sonic Advance series?

Hope that mindfuck was gentle enough.

if by "actually good" you mean "started-off-good-then-reclined-rapidly"

hey, want a bigger mindfuck?

dimps also developed sonic pocket adventure

Rumors are that Sega doesn't actually own the rights to the character.

see that's funny because the only reason the sonic cd port exists is because Taxman (a retro member and -not- part of sonic team) coded it from scratch by himself and sold the rights for using the engine to them

it's kind of sad that sega has to resort to outside help to be able to make their own game and even sadder that a single guy was able to make by himself what the entirety of sonic team could not

as far as the playable characters thing, all 2D games should have sonic, knuckles, and tails playable. No more, no less. (Unless someone does a chaotix port)

You can say the same thing for Nintendo.
I do.

Nintendo hasn't been putting out good products recently either, but that's a different discussion for a different thread.
I'd disagree. Aside from NSMB, Nintendo has been putting out fantastic titles.
Um, Sega is actually doing pretty good, it's just the Sonic series that is kinda recovering. So it's rather Sonic Team's fault than anything.
sorry, I meant sonic team specifically

Makes me wonder why those guys still have jobs.
What REALLY is sad though, is that some sonic fan games out there can actually compete with Sonic Team in the "fun" aspect of their games. Take Sonic BGE for example, it has most (if not all) of the abilities sonic can use in Sonic Generations. You can boost, quick step, rail jump and wall jump. The graphics aren't that bad either (even though it's no where NEAR the graphic quality of even Sonic '06). Most of the enemies present in sonic generations are in it. I had more fun playing Sonic BGE than playing Sonic Generations because you could actually port your own stages into it. This is what saddens me.
