I remember there being a thread like this some time ago, but I don't know where it is now. Hope it's okay if I bring it back just for the halibut.

Anyway, this has been a thing as of recent - finding songs in video games that sound similar to a song not video game-related. It's happened quite a few times. Feel free to share any experiences you've had with this matter.

For example:

This song shares some similar chords in the main melody with

this song.
Here's an interesting one:
Listen to the bass line in this tune (Chameleon by Herbie Hancock) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbkqE4fpvdI ,
then listen to the bass line in this one (Mallow Castle from Kirby Super Star) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwXbfSk8yAc .

They sound rather similar, but I'm sure if you pitch Chameleon up one whole step, you can better hear the similarity.
Even though everyone knows this by now, I feel it's obligatory to post this:

I didn't and you just blew my fucking mind. Thank you!
This is my new favorite Ice Cap "remix" now.
A bit of an obscure one and it isn't quite the same (also considering how tone deaf I am) since it is a jazzy take, however it is similar enough to notice:

World Heroes 2 - Not New York (Deathmatch Theme 3) [This is the CD version, can't find the original chiptune version on Youtube that sounds slightly more closer]

Mission Impossible Theme

It's weird how certain songs sound so similar, that people actually find it interesting. Yet the composer for early-2000s DBZ games is now in hiding because some of his music had pinches of old 70s tunes.
Dokapon Millenium Quest (July 14, 2000)

Pokemon the Movie 2000 (July 21, 2000)
Lugia Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqpXrDuLqE0

Both came out the same month of the same year. Who stole from who? I want to say Pokemon stole, because...

Madou Monogatari ARS (1993)
Schezo Intro Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6rny6-d8To

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald (November 21, 2002 for R/S)

Clearly, they stole this time F3.
Neon Tiger Stage Theme
My Michelle - Guns and Roses
Gotta three-fer.

Safe to say, Jungle Hijinx (and every other variation) was probably inspired by those classic jazz tunes.
And there is this in the first Donkey Konga
