For the colour problems, this might help. Not sure about the crashing, but it's worth a shot. This might also be worth looking into, although it's a less elegant solution.

(Haven't tested either since I don't own the game, just Googled a little bit.)
Played Mario Kart GP DX at a local barcade. It was really fun! I'm SO glad they made steering so much easier and they took out the generic auto or manual transmissions. They also added the ability to jump and drift - you press the left peddle while driving to jump, and hold it to drift and charge a boost. Very impressed with Namco right now, that I actually want them to make more driving games.

That's like the only place that's licensed to have it in their arcades, IIRC. lol

I picked up a PS4 on Black Friday and bought like 7 games for it already. oops. I went out and bought Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for $15, and since it's literally the only other game besides Uncharted I figured I'd give it a shot to see how things run on the PS4.  Jesus Christ everything runs at 60fps and I don't know if I can handle that much fluidity - I actually get motion sickness at certain parts.

Cinemarella also noticed it's starkly different than the games I usually play, and I couldn't think of a better response than "yeah, this is basically a gamer's game for real gamers."
This then turned into a conversation of what a "gamer game" was: Basically, it's what my friends and I usually AAA games that are highly marketed to the core gamer audience, like Dying Light, Skyrim, Destiny or even...yeah, Tomb Raider. basically, the "Doritos and Dew" gamer. That also includes games though that require high amounts of grinding or ridiculous difficulty (i.e. Monster Hunter games or Dark Souls) With AAA releases, you're actually a casual in a different, sort of ironic way though.
She didn't necessarily agree with the flak of the hardcore gamer stereotype, because "That's like saying cinephiles only watch blockbuster films, or there's musicians who aren't enthusiasts unless they play classical pieces"

Like, it sucks but that's...shitty marketing teams and Hollywood at work. ;D

It also spurred a small discussion "Is that why Gamergate's a thing? Because female developers don't want to develop games that aren't about blood and tits and this upsets the core demographic?"
...no, that's kinda different - indie developers are an entirely different breed and that's an entirely different problem (certain devs want to create more avant-garde projects, and said devs are talking too large for underdeveloped turds of games. Gamers are upset, and for some reason both parties keep turning the argument into a gender/sex-based one)
There are female staff members working on big-name titles and designing aspects of them for big-name publishers, but it's just fine in those offices for the most part. There are still shitty sexist bosses and gender discrimination still occurs but it's more in line with the usual shitty sexist bosses and gender discrimination you'd find elsewhere in the workforce, rather than mushroom into a tremendous clusterfuck on social media.

Nope, it's locally-owned...They have a bunch of retro games and pinball machines (as well as some more recent ones). My hometown's actually a vacation area, so they're usually pretty busy, so I guess they might have the money to own a license to it I maybe??? I should look more into that stuff.
Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii was 10 euros on the eShop today, so I decided to use some of my Smash DLC funds to buy it.
Having played it, I have no regrets. One nitpick of mine would be that the game gets confusingly complex at times. It's doesn't punish you very hard for dying though, thank God.
A friend bought me Starcraft II: The Complete Collection, which is 90NZD. That even includes Legacy of the Void, the newest expansion. Really really awesome of him, even if half the reason is because he wants someone to practice with. I've wanted it for a while, and although I'm not big on playing RTS games competitively I do still like them, and I'm enjoying the campaign quite a lot so far. I really love the aesthetics, it runs perfectly despite the quality of the graphics and all the effects, and I even noticed how nice the music is.

I sparred a bit with the friend who bought it, using a specific method of practising called the staircase method. It's basically restricting yourself so you can focus on certain aspects, so it's not really how actual multiplayer games would go, but it was still quite fun even though I got absolutely annihilated. If I get into it enough I might actually play multiplayer games regularly, since it's obvious that SC2 has a lot of focus on multiplayer (as opposed to other RTS games that I've played like Warcraft 3 or AoE).

I've also started playing Fallout 3 again. I played it ages ago but then stopped, so I'm starting over. Even if the whole internet's going on about Fallout 4, 3 still holds up really well and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Picked up AVGN Adventures and Turtle Tale (as well as a few other games) during Nintendo's eShop Black Friday sale... Thoroughly enjoyed them both... It isn't often these days that i sit down and play a game for more than half an hour at a time, but it's only been three days since I acquired these games and I've already dumped ten hours into them between them both. Also finished them (although AVGN I only finished on Normal... like Hell I'm going through all of its difficulty levels!)

Turtle Tale looks like a shitty Newgrounds ground, but I actually liked it a lot. The fact that it's an every day budget title seriously shows, but I thought the water gun mechanic was cool (basically enemies take different amounts of damage depending on how much water they get hit with, and you can utilize the water stream's drips to deal small damage to enemies in difficult places), and the game only ever felt "unfair" during the boss battles (of which there are two) despite some reviews stating that the game's Second Quest was too punishing. For the most part, any mistake you make in the actual platforming stages are your own. The controls weren't super fluid because the game isn't momentum based the way a lot of platformers are, but everything was precise. You always jump this high, you always move this fast, etc. It takes a lot of precision to get everything just right.

AVGN is also pretty awesome, but pretty much the opposite of Turtle Tale. The whole point of the game is to be unfair, and The Nerd doesn't control well at all... I mean, he's fluid and that feels awesome, but he handles kind of like a cross between Luigi and Mega Man: Momentum doesn't change that much in the air, but on the ground he slides just way too much, like he's always ice (which makes the times the ground actually is slippery incredibly frustrating). But it's one of those games that kind of forces you to keep going, because there's no way you're going to let this damn get the better of you! And then you win, and each time you make it to a new checkpoint is incredibly rewarding.

I'm glad these games have pulled me out of my game-dabble-funk (basically when I kind of want to play games but only manage to play for a couple minutes before I feel like I'm wasting time... and as a result I just kind of start a whole bunch of new games instead of actually getting immersed into any single one). Hopefully I can knock some things off my backlog before this wears off Big Grin
Star Wars Galactic Battlefront is a lot slower than I remembered.
Titan Souls is Shadow of the Colossus 2D. I realize that's a silly thing to say but that's what I feel.

whOOPS i thought it was licensed but apparently not - but it's kind of a "staple" of the Dave & Busters that I've been to around here and in Manhattan. I wasn't actually sure if they managed to seal an exclusivity deal with Nintendo or not regarding the machines though. lol

I see. Well, on a side note, I hear the D&B in Times Square is giving US players access to Pokken Tournament, if you haven't checked it out yet.

Meanwhile, I got back to the King of Fighters XI (PS2)...To be honest, I highly recommend it for any of you all who like competitive fighting games, because as a casual player, this game frustrates me to no end. Many of the challenges are near impossible to complete and the arcade mode increasingly gets tougher as you proceed through matches. I've played one of the recent KOF games (XII or XIII, can't remember), and I thought it took a slightly more casual approach as opposed to XI. So I guess what I'm saying is that if your super competitive with fighting games, KOF XI might be for you to play in tournaments or just have fun with friends.

I've been meaning to go actually check it out - but now by the time I do Pokken will be already out. lmao

I've been playing the new Xenoblade and Jesus I'm hooked. It feels like a single-player MMO more than a JRPG, and it's the first game in probably ages that I'm excited to come home and play to see what happens next. It's...Monster Hunter but like, THE FUTURE and everyone looks like babies

It's also why I don't play MMOs because I get fuckin addicted to them. I can't wait till I get a credits screen so I can return to a nice normal game experience and not this superbly gamer-game of a game.

I was surprised when I saw the trailer going around on YouTube...I'm like, So, this is what Shulk is from? Where the hell is he? I guess it's not a sequel to the original game, lol.

It's definitely not. The only thing that's similar to Xenoblade Chronicles is the battle system, and even that's staunchly different (since now you can swap weapons on the fly, and take up different classes much like you would in an MMO)

also, like,
fly around in a mech suit (most important difference but like
A MECH SUIT)

Also, the original storyline of Xenoblade Chronicles was like, man vs. machine. This new game is like, "man who really likes machines" vs. "asshole aliens who really like machines"
I just got Yo-kai Watch for Hanukkah, and I'm having a blast with it! It's funny because when it was first announced, I didn't want anything to do with it. I thought it was too similar to Pokemon. But then I watched the first episode of the anime on the eShop and then I downloaded the demo and next thing I knew I was hooked. My friend made fun of me for it. Tongue
Though there are some frustrating mechanics...

You can't control how your Yo-kai fight. The only attack you can control is the Soultimate, which is their special move. You can change their personalities so they fight more how you want, but it's not exact. There's also a chance they'll end up loafing and wasting their turns. There's an item that makes it so they loaf around less often, but it doesn't seem like there's an item to permanently stop it. Well, the good thing is the enemy can loaf too.

Catching fish and bugs is completely random. You just gotta hope the cursor lands on one of the marks.

Befriending Yo-kai is even harder. Giving them food supposedly increases your chances, but it's been very rare that I actually managed to get the Yo-kai I want. If you give them their favorite food, it's supposed to really increase their chances of befriending you, but so far it's just been luck-based. Unimpressed It's gotten to the point that I just skip looking for Yo-kai and keep the team I've had for a while now.

There's also one little thing that's never explained. When you complete a quest, you get a bonus scene. It's a short animated clip. The catch is, you interact with it much like Dragon's Lair. You have to press A at the right time and the clip changes. If you're successful, you get an extra item. The tells aren't too hard, I suppose, but it's still kinda tricky. I wish they explained it somewhere. I checked the help section in the menu but it's nowhere to be seen.

But overall I do enjoy the game. The designs are really neat. It's pretty different from Pokemon. It's only similar in that you catch monsters, but there's tons of games like that. Oh, and I guess its popularity (in Japan, at least).

I do like that I haven't even beaten half the bosses and I'm at 18 hours. I have a knack for beating games in 24 hours without even intending to, and there are few exceptions to that (Tales games, Persona). Of course that could be because of the types of games I play... But anyways, I think this may be another one of those exceptions. I'm hoping it is, anyways. I try to do everything I can when I play games.
