Am I the only one who doesn't like the really fluffy character designs?
Hey, as least they're not as furry as those images of Banjo and Kazooie in a "remake" of the first two Banjo games (I would show you what I mean, but I can't find the images anywhere for the life of me).
Really digging that Funky render. Just look at that guy! He's just burting with cool!
For someone as funky as the main monkey, he'll look good in any medium out there. He might not be the adventuring types like the other Kongs, but there's something about Funky that makes me glad to see him. Admittedly, the fact that he would just run an item shop instead of an airport or a vehicle hire is a little bit of a step backwards for him, but at least it's better than nothing!
NO KIDDY KONG?! INSTA UNBUY GAWD
You know, it'd be reeeally nice to see K. Rool involved in this somehow...

Maybe as a villain. Maybe as a secret character. But it'd suuuure be quite the fanservice if he came back in any form...

...

Wink. Wink...
Just a heads up, I'm about to rant. This isn't directed at Schalternate, he simply made me think of this:

[rant]Whats the big deal wiht King K Rool? I have nothing against him or the Kremlings personally, but he never really had much of a goal or purpose aside from being a jerk for no apparent reason. Not to mention the fact that he's been in nearly every game as the villain as is aside from Jungle Beat and Returns (unless I'm missing one). Again, I have nothing against him, but it just bugs me that people (not necessarily here, but on lots of sites in general) are so hung up on him. I mean, the series is in Retros hands now, so it stands to reason that they'd want to try some new villains aside from "Crocodiles... again!". Would I like to see him return again? Sure, why not, heck, toss him in SSB4, but I just don't see why some people act like a game without him would be the end of the world.[/rant]

EDIT- Sorry, I've been seeing some topics on other sites that have been rather harsh towards Retro for no including the Kremlings and I needed to vent.
To give the answer in a nutshell, I think it has something to do with the sentimental value behind them.We had the Kremlings for at least four major Donkey Kong games (including DK64), so most fans of the sires are used to them. Since they are being replaced by other antagonists, it's understandable why several fans are upset.

It's a bit like having a Mario game and you replace all the classic Mario enemies with completely different ones. Sure, it is fresh, but I doubt you could imagine a mainstream Mario game without enemies that are iconic as the Goomba or the Koopa.
Do you mean Super Mario Bros. 2?

And yet whenever a new Mario game pops up, the first thing I see many people complain about is that Bowser is back. True enough you generally don't see people complain about Bowser's minions, but I tend to view the minions and the leader as a single bundle.

Someone on Minus World made a good point though by saying that the fact that DK games don't come out as often as Mario may have something to do with it. Either way though, I think some peoples overall obsessiveness with the Kremlings is a bit much. If you like then and want them to return, fine, but what annoys me is the people who flat out bash the game for not having them.

Funny you should mention that, Kriven. Since Super Mario Bros. 2 was released during an age when the Mario games were still new, no gamers would have imagined how iconic Goombas and the like would become years later. Sure, they were a big part of the game, but the enemies in Mario were nowhere near as popular as they are today. In this day and age, any new Mario game released now without the staple enemies would be hard to imagine.

This along with with how the enemies in that game became icon Mario enemies since then are the reasons why I felt it was unnecessary to mention it.

Well, not all Goombas and Koopas follow Bowser. It would be interesting to see what the Mario games would be like with a different antagonist for a change. They did something like it in Zelda games, so I'm sure the concept would translate pretty well in a Mario game (if you count the Mario RPGs, this is already successful).
Iconic years later? Goombas were more iconic in the 80's than they are now. They were in breakfast cereal!

Okay, so that's just puffs. But the original Super Mario Bros. generated so much paraphernalia that it puts Club Nintendo's Yoshi cleaning cloth to shame.
The difference between DKC and Mario is that Mario games are popping out like weeds and Bowser is in every one of them. DKC had disappeared for a long time, people began to miss all the characters they loved form that series. Then they came back and everyone was happy... wait... where are the Kremlings?

Why have the series return after all these years with everything we loved about them, and then K. Rool isn't back? That's just weird. Sure if DK games came out as much as Mario ones and K. Rool was in every one of them, then people would make the same argument, "Let's fight some new enemy for a change!"
I couldn't have said it better myself, Koopaul.

Point taken.

You know, back when the NES was still the hottest thing out there, Nintendo had a habit of letting any Tom, Dick, and Harry use their IPs freely to the point of creating some pretty goofy products. If Nintendo were more strict about this like they are today, then absurd things like the Super Mario Bros. movie and the CD-i games would probably never existed.
Would that have really been a good thing though? Say what you will, but I like the Super Mario Bros. movie - it's honestly not the worst thing I've ever seen and can actually be pretty fun to watch.

But yeah, I'm happy with just about every new announcement with this game. Even if Cranky Kong is just Scrooge McDuck and if the Kong Pow seems like it really super-breaks the game which is why I will never use it.
