The VG Resource

Does anyone have any good websites (preferably free ones) for Direct Downloads of anime? I'm going on a long car trip and I'd like to have (hopefully) all of Nichijou to watch to entertain myself. I've tried a bunch of websites but all of the links were either missing or broken, and I'd rather not deal with torrents because I have no experience with them.

Are you using Chrome? Get the two extensions Flash Video Downloader and Youtube Video Downloader. Then you can download any flash-related video that you're buffering on your PC =). As long as it's not on a super protected site like Hulu that is...but I think they might work their way around that at some point. So if you know of a site with episodes you want to gather, pull the page up, press play on the video to get it to start buffering, then use the extension to download them.

Finished reading Fullmetal Alchemist. That was amazing, easily one of the best stories I've ever experienced in any media.

I've heard that the anime has an extremely different story after a certain point*, is this true? If so could someone give me a small summary of the main differences and/or whether it's worth it to watch the anime as well? Also if there are different series what are the differences between them?

keep in mind this is the original FMA series, cause nowadays they made FMA: brotherhood which closely follows the manga instead

I hope no one minds me copy pasting my comments in my anime thread, but I completely missed this thread (which pretty much makes mine redundant), forgive me, I'm sick!

What I've enjoyed:
Gurren Lagann - a barrel of fun with a set of characters I grew greatly attached to! takes itself seriously enough to build tension and silly enough to always keep things exciting!

FLCL - Though I couldn't make heads or tails of the story I doubt the story was its aim, brilliant animation and a style that almost brings about nostalgia!

Soul Eater - Brilliantly imaginative world and characters, delightfully colourful, surprisingly deep, intense fights, dribbles of emotion and magnificent opening music!

Brave Story - an anime movie that tugs at the heart set mostly in a fantasy world, I can hardly express how much I enjoyed this movie, if you get any spare time watch it!

What I am enjoying:
Attack on Titan - who didn't see this coming? attack on titan has pretty much gone viral and I'd say for good reason, though excitement for the second season proved too much for me to bear, I buckled and started reading the manga, which is also magnificent by the way.

Kill La Kill - enjoy is a strong word at the moment, I'm excited for it, and the first episode however much it tried didn't fit enough in to set up the rest of the series, that said I still have high hopes, I'll probably follow the 3 episode rule.

As you can tell I'm a big fan of action anime, with some silly masculinity charm

I also have a question, does anyone know where I should be looking for anime blu-rays (jap audio with eng sub available)?
I'm looking to start myself a collection of animes I enjoy but I really don't want the dubs as I usually watch anime as subs, with exception to only a rare few.

Valvrave the Liberator
and
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet
are the shows I watched earlier this year that were pretty good. Valvrave is getting a second season starting this thursday. They're both mecha shows that are pretty good, despite sticking to some of the typical genre failings (most likely intentionally).

Duuude, I love Samurai Champloo.

One thing that always got me confused was the fact that the guy Jin fights in the second episode never shows up again despite promising they'd meet again. I heard that apparently the writers just forgot about him. Woops. O:

Um, I assume anime is from Japan? But nevertheless, I am in the middle of Bleach and enjoying it far more than I should. For God's sake, half my dreams are about joining Aizen's army. So it's my favourite as of the time being (although I can't imagine why, I always disliked the idea of watching Bleach when I was younger).

I have watched Hikaru no Go (very recommended, it's sweet and pretty impressive, actually), Black Butler (one of my favourites), Hetalia (not a favourite, but I like it), and a bit of Fullmetal Alchemist, which I plan to finish when I complete Bleach.

I do plan to watch Shingeki no Kyoujin, Free!, and finish up Ouran High School Host Club, then start on Death Note and Hitman Reborn. Might try Soul Eater, too, since the one character I kind of liked when I skimmed through the first volume of the manga was Death the Kid... and Shinigami-sama, actually.

Just in case you're actually not sure, yes it is. I think the guy who made the thread wasn't serious (or just didn't know), but now everybody knows this is the anime thread

Anyway, just started reading Dr. Slump. I chose to read it because it's by Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragon Ball), and even though it's a gag manga and thus much less serious than DB, it's completely Toriyama's style. It's pretty good so far, the humour is great.

I also found some scanlations of Professor Layton and the Cheerful Mystery, another gag manga based on the Professor Layton games, so I'll probably be reading that sooner or later.
