Kafka is already dead at the start of the show, every single part of her body was used to save the lives of every other girl in the class including the teacher, that's why you don't see all of them at the same time and why Kafka in general got little to no focus in the show despite being the main girl, the random body parts shown in the OPs are parts of her body and other parts that you assume is just SHAFT being SHAFT are actually foreshadowing

The Kanji that appears on Kafka's face is "Lie" as in it's a lie she's alive
Every girl turns into Kafka at 0: 38
At 0:54 Kafka dances on the corpses of every girl meaning if she's alive they can't be.
At 1:06 the lyrics say something along the lines of "I am here and you are not" followed by an animation of the Teacher pulling Kafka's rope

There's probably loads of hidden hints in the OPs and EDs in the form of Kanji or SHAFT being SHAFT too.

- Commenting on how beautiful the flowers are. Those flowers were also known as Hell or Death Flowers.
- The whole college-student thing.
- Blank, detached eyes and dismissive comment after Chiri burnt down the school in the Dojikko sketch.
- She is named after Franz Kafka, an author well known for having suffered severe depression throughout his life.
- Throwing flowers over the corpses of her dead classmates in the third OP of Goku.
- She is never shown spending time with the other girls in a casual context. She just kind of appears next to Nozomu whenever shit hits the fan.
- Bandaged wrists in some episodes
- It's heavily implied her mother was possessed, and her father had multiple suicide attempts.
- Her uncle is in prison (Don't recall if this was in the anime, but I remember reading it in the Manga)
- She's seen crying in the first season episode where Nozomu goes with Harumi to see his "doujins". Just before this, he told her he loved her, then took it back, which didn't seem to bother her initially...
- The "soft landing" episode. While every character gets a relatively normal scenario to demonstrate, Kafuka goes through step-by-step instructions on how an alien race could slowly infiltrate earth and turn humanity into livestock.
- In the third Goku OP, she is shown with the kanji for "Lie" in place of her face.
- During the "detox" episode, we never got to see how Kafuka changed after being detoxed. She just disappeared between bathing and everyone going back to normal.

turns out everything is true. She never existed. What's worse, Kumeta had this planned since the first chapter apparently (and the SHAFT staff knew it too. They're geniuses), he didn't pull this out of nowhere. He must have been quite nervous after the abrupt end of Katte ni Kaizo (it had a similar mind-blowing ending), and wanted to plan things. But damn, keeping things this subtle over 300 chapters. I, wow. I always saw that this series had something special in it, but this is too much. I think this ending alone made it reach this work reach the level of "masterpiece" on my personal ranking. I feel like crying now, for some reason, shit.

But I'm still confused as to why Nozomu sees her, was this explained or did I miss something?
