For the shadows: There is maybe a script which controls the shadows below the sprites, which makes them completely changeable. Maybe you can have one jump and several different shadow positions for it. I experienced the same with Secret of Mana.

Dust clouds and other sprites will always obscure certain animations, so unless you want to rip the tiles you have to look for patterns in shape or whether a certain sprite is re-used elsewhere.

Well, each different size of Battle shadow is a sprite/tile of its own (it's notable enough that I've been compiling a small sheet of them myself). If you compare base shadows between different sheets, you'll find that most characters around the same girth have identical shadows. Shadows in BIS almost always change size through tile swapping, and even then it's only when the character raises off the ground.

Overworld is a different story. There's probably less than 10 tiles used universally.
Ridge, did you still plan on getting those NPC's you claimed?
I need help is there anyway to rip mare and luigi overworld and battle sprites with Tile Molester or anything llike this. I wanted to find a way how to rip sprites like what ridge did for Bowser and Mario. Even though I wanted to rip them for my fangame.
So far as we know hard-ripping and editing out the backgrounds is the only way, at least until Yoshi Magic manages to support it (if that ever happens). Tile Molester might work but if it does it mustn't be worth the effort if Ridge is hard-ripping Bowser. If it were then I'm sure they'd already be done.

If you do plan to attempt to rip Mario, my Background Remover app (which you can get here) might help somewhat.
With such a popular game, you'd think some more tools would support it. It's probably more a matter of how (alphadream?) whoever made it made the game though. I don't know xD

I'd help out but my pc is playing up at the mo. Won't hesitate to help if it stops being stupid though Smile

You'd think, yeah Wink

Well, the guys at Yoshi Lighthouse are working on it I think, the newest version of YM has a map and item viewer. We're hoping that it can manage sprites soon, although I have no idea how long it could take. As you said it does depend on how the game's made.
These bosses are missing their 2nd palette when they are fought in the Bonus Arena: (X Versions)

Durmite/Biffidus
Alpha/Beta Kretin
Wizdurm/Straw
Bowser Memory (Darker shade)
Junker/Junker Can
Dark Star/Dark Satellmite

Bowser X also has unique sprites (Becoming Giant in battle, getting caught on fire and rolling around)
Uh... those all have their X palettes. Every one you listed.

All those that you didn't list don't have X palettes, but I'm not sure if any of them even have X versions. Ones like Midbus shouldn't, since Bowser battles him, but maybe Chakron does?

Yes, but did you ask the website to upgrade to make it capable for MLBIS to rip the sprites.
Not personally, but I think John2k did (or someone else). Either way I'm sure they're trying, it's not really that easy. It takes an immense amount of time, effort, and trial and error to even find the sprites, let alone make them viewable. I'm pretty sure they have real life to deal with as well.

It might not even be possible at all, in my opinion we're lucky it works for SS and PiT. In any case we'll know if they get it working, but we shouldn't hold our breath.
Oh we were after ML3 sprites? You should have just said so.
Here's a bunch of sprites I managed to dump from FobjPc.dat

Hrrrng.
HRRRNG.

Thank you soooooooo much! This is infinitely better than hard ripping. These are just overworld sprites though, right? I mean battle sprites are much much easier to hard rip than overworld sprites anyway, but having dumps like this would also be super handy.

How did you do this though? Did you just manage to decode the ROM and then made a script extract everything or what?

Are you some kind of DS god?
