Those little sparks are the same that Mario & Luigi hammer back at Bowser's muscles at the parts where Bowser needs more strength (only smaller). I think it'd be safe to say they are small electric orbs.

Actually, we'll have to change all the enemies and bosses names, so I think we shouldn't care about any name.
